I Thank God...Day 23

Twenty-seven years ago today, I said a three letter word that changed my life. Yes. My Honey Lowell asked me to go steady with him. ~smile~ We had only known each other a little over a month at the time. Honestly, I didn't expect it to last this long. The kids I knew usually went steady for one to three months at most. When we got to three months, I remember thinking that it was really a long-term relationship. By six months, I started thinking about marriage! Mind you, we were only 16! I found an old diary where I had planned out how we would get through college and the steps toward marriage. I forgot about it; but, we ended up following "the plan" almost all the way. Oh, how I wish I'd know God better back then. Even then, I was leading. It would have been so much better to let God and my future husband lead. It's taken 27 years; but, I'm doing much better at letting them lead.

I thank God for my husband Lowell. He's the best part of my life. He's so loyal and committed to me. I feel so blessed to have been his girl through all these years and all these stages of our life. We've both grown so much in the Lord. The Lord has taken us down paths we never thought we'd take. For instance, who would have believed that God would have taken 2 big city college kids and made them happy living in a little town of 11,000 people? When we moved here to Carthage, we thought everyone should know everyone else; it was so small to us. ~smile~ Now we love it here, even with the changes.

Enjoy today!

  1. Hi, Laura, Thank you for visiting my blog. Your post touched my heart this morning. How wonderful to have found that special someone. I tend to want to "lead" as well and I have to constantly be reminded that my heavenly Bridegroom is the one really in charge! Have a lovely Sunday.

God bless you! This life only works with Jesus. The next life is a continuation of this one—make sure you spend it with Jesus. Jesus is the only way to God the Father!
