Cheerfulness

Isn't it amazing?
Housework, homework, yardwork, life can be drudgery.
If we let it.
Poor me.  I have so much to do.  I don't feel like it.  It's like a plague.

Why not try a little...
Cheerfulness?
Counting the blessings we have?
Choosing to enjoy the work just as we enjoy knitting or sewing or visiting with friends?

I think a little cheerfulness and a ready smile would change not only our work but our homes!

  1. A friend of mine suggested that we say things with a smile to our kids. I've tried it and it does make quite a difference!

  2. Very true! I once heard someone say something along the lines of: We have to do these things every day, and we have a choice about our attitude. Why in the world do we PLAN a time every day to be miserable?

We can't change our hearts, but we can change our minds. If we choose to put a smile on our face, even when we don't feel like it, GOD will do the work in our hearts!

  3. Very true! I love having music playing in our home throughout the day. It helps me to choose cheerfulness.

  4. You are so right! I think a good place to start would be to make a print of that smiling, dish-washing, 50's woman for my kitchen with an encouraging Bible verse on it. Thanks for reminder. I am visiting from Imparting Grace.

  5. I was recently introduced to the difference between I have to vs I get to...certainly is a cheerfulness booster!

  6. Hi Liberty,
I need to practice saying those words, "I get to".
    Thanks for the reminder!
I dropped by your blog to say hi. Thanks for the link.

    God bless you,

  7. Hi Calista,

Isn't it interesting that we automatically think of her as a 50's woman? I think we need to embrace our homemaking as a calling much as most women did back then.

    Blessings to you,
    Laura

  10. I have found that being cheerful even when you don't feel like it makes your life so much better!

  12. I so agree! I have always taught my kids that anything they do it's all about the 'attitude'. You make it fun, or you make it a drudgery. It's all up to you. Can you believe, I actually enjoy doing housework. And yes, I whistle while I work. Seriously, I don't. Try as I might, I can't whistle! lol! Nothing comes out when I blow out. I make a pitiful whistle sound when I suck in. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,

  13. Hi Jann,

I, too, have troubles with whistling. I struggle with cheerfulness during housework. I just had a thought. I enjoy rainy days, because I made a decision to enjoy rainy days. Perhaps the key is to make a decision to enjoy housework, decluttering, laundry etc. What do you think?

    Blessings,
    Laura

  14. Crystelle,

As I grow older, I'm finding happiness is found in doing the things that are before you and looking for the joy in the moment. Do I do it? Not enough, but I'm learning.

    May God bless you.
