It's a tall order, isn't it?  I think it's worth talking to the Lord, asking Him how He wants this to be manifest in my life.  I've been reading Created to Be His Helpmeet by Debi Pearl.  It's changing my perspective on being Lowell's wife.  I'm understanding some of my natural tendencies and which need to be curbed and which need to be encouraged within me.  The whole idea of being my husband's helpmeet seems so old-fashioned; but, Jeremiah 6:16 says, "Thus says the LORD: 'Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’"

I don't want to be one who says that I will not walk in it.  If the old path of the wife being a helpmeet to her husband has worked for six thousand years, why should the twentieth and twenty-first centuries suddenly change that?  Have we really suddenly got more enlightened knowledge than all the generations before us?  Look around.  I don't think so.

Lowell's work with Joplin Family Worship Center has shown a new dimension to being a helpmeet to my husband.  I am available to him to help him with his work in many ways.  I have talked with tornado survivors and determined how our resource center can help them, stocked and sacked groceries in our sanctuary, cooked, cleaned, and served in the church kitchen for some of the thousands of survivors and volunteers, and provided whatever support was needed was needed in our outreach events.  Whatever Lowell needs me to do, I do for him and for God.  I take my children with me.  They are learning to serve by serving and watching us serve.  We are blessed to be a blessing.

God, please give me a pure and content heart in serving You by being a helpmeet to my husband.

A Quick and Yummy Vanilla Milkshake

Hey Y'all,

I've always thought that a milkshake had to have icecream in it. Not anymore. I was trying to come up with a cool and delicious treat the other afternoon and started rummaging in the cupboard. I found a can of sweetened condensed milk that had been sitting there since the holidays. Hmmm.... Out came the blender, a little of this and a little of that. Oh, boy, is this good!

Vanilla Milkshake
Here's what you need:

A blender, of course.
A few cups of milk
sweetened condensed milk
vanilla
ice

Put a few cups of milk in the blender. I didn't measure.
Add one can of sweetened condensed milk.
A couple of teaspoons of vanilla extract.

Blend and add ice until it reaches the thickness you like. I added milk and ice until my blender was full. Mine didn't come out thick because I didn't add enough ice; but, it was rich and delicious and icy cold.

Give it a try and change it up a bit until it's just the way you like it.

Strawberry Lemonade Soda Sipper

My recipe was featured in Gooseberry Patch's
Grilling and Campfire cooking!

Oh girls!  You've just got to try this!  This is one of my "do with whatcha got" recipes that I just made up.  The kids insisted that I write down the recipe.  You can use regular water or soda water instead of the Seltzer water if you wish.

Strawberry Lemonade Soda Sipper

Start with an empty one-quart blender and add:

1/2 cup lemon juice
1 cup sugar (or Splenda)
16 ounces of Seltzer Water
large handful of strawberries

Fill the blender to the top with ice and blend until slushy.

Pour into glasses and serve with a straw.

Serves four.

TAXES

My definition of taxes: Taxes are rent we pay for living in the greatest nation in the world.

The rent is well worth it.
Sure, I wish my rent was a bit lower. Who doesn't?

But remember, there's only so much that can be done by any one man or woman, even if he or she is in Congress or in the Presidency or Vice Presidency.

I wouldn't put a whole lot of faith in the promises to cut taxes. Just wait and see and praise God if it really comes to pass. I've know since I was little that "He's got the whole world in His hands...."

Oh my!  I'm behind! 

                 E is for Emily.   My but she's growing up.  She's a lovely young lady with talent, giftings, and a passion for God.  Gotta love my Emily Girl.

F is for Fun.  We had lots of fun at the zoo yesterday.  It was the first time the children had been to the zoo.




G is for Good Friday.  Thank you God that you gave your son Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins.
