Meet and Greet Laura Lane of Harvest Lane Cottage

I am a big city girl gone small town gone country.  I live just a few miles from Joplin, Missouri of tornado fame.  I met Jesus at fourteen and met my high school sweetheart husband at sixteen.  I've been married 29 years and homeschool three of my four children. My eldest lives on his own now.  I enjoy my Jesus, my Bible, my family, reading, writing, quilting, sewing, baking, knitting, crocheting, making soup, and talking.

I've been writing here at Harvest Lane Cottage since the end of 2007.  I like to encourage others in their walk with Jesus, making it through hard times, homemaking, homeschooling, and reading. My most popular posts are usually focused on being thrifty and frugal. It's something I know a lot about since we've been a one income family for well over twenty years.

I've found that we don't really need all that we think we do.  It's more about being creative with the resources we have, praying for God to supply our needs, and being thankful.
In the end, it's all about loving Jesus and loving others.

May God bless you!

Now, please talk back! Tell me a little about yourself!

Laura

  4. Great post, I have been blogging for over 4 years, and no you would not know it. I realized somewhere in my first year, that I enjoyed the writing, and photos, but for some reason I did not feel the need to keep them all posted so I could go back and reread everything. I usually only leave my posts for a little while, then revert them to draft, read them again if I have a mind to and let them go. Not the norm, but i do enjoy it, I have had so many kind people comment on what I write. Blog friends are very dear to me, when life slows down a bit, I will probably return to more regular posts.

  9. Hi, Laura! It was so nice to learn a bit more about you. :) I remember hearing of those tornadoes. Yikes, that must have been so scary. We had a bad one in Xenia, OH, when I was growing up near there years ago. Not a fun experience, that's for sure. I took your advice and moved my google + members down to the bottom of my blog, so now, no more jiggles!!! Hooray! Thank you for sharing, so we could get to know you better. Have a blessed and safe 4th of July!

  10. So glad it worked for you, Cheryl. It really bugged me when it started on my blog. I don't like the list at the bottom, but nothing else has worked.

    Blessings,
    Laura

  16. Hi Laura! It's so nice to put a face with your writing. We are making a border out of glass bottles around one of our gardens. I think you wrote about it several years ago. I love thrift, too!

  17. I don't remember that, Jane. It sounds like a neat idea though. I don't really get my hands on many glass bottles.

  22. Hey Laura! I love your blog. And I'm totally interested in the thrifty articles. It is SO HARD living on one income. Ugh. I moved to New York (not the city...lol) four years ago from a bitty teensy town in Arkansas. I too love Jesus! I've been Apostolic my whole life of 44 years. :) I have homeschooled for the past four years as well. Before that, I taught third grade. I absolutely love cooking and baking. I am really wanting to decorate my home in a thrifty way over the next few years. I do not have a blog but I've often thought of starting one. I'm just not sure what my blog would be about. lol Thank you for taking the time to minister to us who read your blog.

  23. You're right, Melinda, one income is very hard. You have to say no to yourself and your family so much. I'm not familiar with Apostolic. I'd like to know more.

I didn't think I had anything to write about, but my husband kind of pushed me into blogging back in 2007.

Thank you so much for "talking back" to me!

I read all comments and appreciate them.
Please make sure I have your email if you want me to respond or pray for you.

God bless you! This life only works with Jesus. The next life is a continuation of this one—make sure you spend it with Jesus. Jesus is the only way to God the Father!
