A Thrifty Week at Harvest Lane Cottage #73

Welcome to another thrifty week at Harvest Lane Cottage. I am honored by your visit.  Each week I share my thrifty and frugal projects, ways of saving money, and my blessings from God.

I am so glad you dropped in for a visit today—or tonight!

♥♥♥
Can you believe the weekend is here again? Can you believe I've written seventy-three of these thrifty week posts? I never imagined when I started just how popular they would be. Well my need to be thrifty hasn't changed, so I'll just keep on sharing my thrifty weeks. It's so neat when you share how you've been thrifty, too. We all need to save money, so any frugal tips are welcome.

I love it when y'all leave comments, so I can meet you and see your blogs, too.

Here's my thrifty week:

  • I stayed home nearly all the time!
  • I sent supper leftovers with my husband for lunches.
  • We ate tomatoes and lettuce from our garden.
  • I made plans to reuse some of my children's school books for the next child in line.
  • I received two books, a set of grocery bag carriers, and a pair of sunglasses in the mail for review.
  • My son's friend gave us big bag full of ripe, juicy tomatoes and cucumbers.

Well, that's my thrifty week.

What are you doing in your home this week?

Focus on your blessings!

  1. Hello dear friend! I am going to enjoy a quiet weekend of crochet. Trying to finish up a few things. I did finish some snowmen and a shawl.

  2. I made gift tags for a baby shower gift (shower tomorrow). If I'd been real smart I could have made bibs and a blanket for a gift....cooked some food from the garden...I think that is all my thrifty ways this week...one thing I do is swap kindles with Daughter so that we can read each other's books...she also checks books out of the library.

    1. Hmmm... I have never swapped Kindles. Do you swap the whole Kindle or just the books? I recently found out they have e-books and audio books at the library, but I haven't checked into the details yet. Truthfully, school prep, reading my Bible and my review books take most of my reading time.

    1. Happy weekend to you Anne. My husband is having about 50 guys over to bbq and shoot skeet. (Clay pigeons they throw up in the air.) My son is having some of his new police friends come, too. It should be a good time for them. I'm baking cookies today.

  4. Seems much quieter when you stay home, doesn't it?
I know it does for me,
I have been in and out all week,
Seemed like spinning my wheels mostly,
Not getting very far. I used up my street vendors produce.
I had thought I would catch him today,
But the yard and house work took longer here than I thought they wood.
Hope you have a nice weekend.

    1. Our garden is beginning to produce tomatoes. That's about it so far.
One little okra all by its lonesome.

      Have a great weekend Judy!

    1. Oh so glad Roxy. I felt like money slipped through my fingers since we needed so many things this week. There just wasn't enough for all of it.

  7. Hi Laura! I hope to be able to stay home for most of next week other than some volunteer work that I have. :) It really does save a ton of money doesn't it? Those tomatoes and cucumbers sound so good. I picked my first cucumber from the garden and ate it today...so yummy!

    1. Yes, it does save money, Debbie. I've found a terrible tendency this summer for my van or whatever I'm driving to veer uncontrollably into Sonic for a Happy Hour frozen lemonade! Not good for the budget (even at half price) or for my waistline!

  10. Thank you for stopping by Oh my Heartsie Girls WW this week to share your thrifty ideas. Your ideas are so much the way I did when raising my kids, always a garden to fetch fresh vegetables, homemade baked bread, canning every summer and making mine and my kids clothes for years. Hope to see you again.
    Have a great week!

    1. Be blessed and productive friend! We start homeschool for my youngest today—just math and writing. My son is working a summer internship which will end in a couple weeks, then he'll start. My elder daughter will start community college in a few weeks.
