Pumpkin Patch Blessings

I just love fall and everything about it! One of my most treasured memories is the year that we grew pumpkins for a pumpkin patch at Harvest Lane Farm. I loved watching each little pumpkin baby form and grow into its own unique shape and size. Every one was different. Bumpy, smooth, short, tall, slim, stout, I liked them all. My favorites are the ones that are deep dark orange and short and round—like me. Oh, did I say that aloud? ~grin~

A love for children's books that are centered around pumpkin themes grew in me just like those little pumpkins. Fortunately, I had four little, cuddly pumpkins to read to during that time. Years have past, we no longer have a pumpkin patch, and we no longer have little pumpkins. They've grown into teens and young adults, but I still adore pumpkin books.

Pumpkin Patch Blessings

Pumpkin Patch Blessings is a sweet little board book from Zondervan, created by Kim Washburn and Jacqueline East. Even though I don't have any littles, I just had to get it! After all, grandlittles will come someday. ~smile~ Grammy has to be ready—right?

This little book has adorable pictures of bunnies, birdies, ladybugs, a doggy, a horsey, cute chubby faced children and lots of things to point out and name to your little pumpkin.

The story is written in verse.

"Ready to go?
We don't want to be late.
Just put on a sweater.
The weather is great.

God's creation is calling.
Let's go find some treasure.
Pumpkin Patch blessings.
Oh what a treasure!"

I give this little book five pumpkins!

    1. Good for you Patti! I've still got some of the kids' favorite picture books. Some they loved so much, I will look for copies to keep at their houses someday. I'll be over for a visit in just a bit. Thanks so much for stopping by and being neighborly.

      Blessings to you,

  7. This looks like a really cute little book. My little would love it. My little guy keeps asking everyday to make pumpkin pie. I keep reminding him the pumpkins aren't ready and we would have to use the canned pumpkin to make it. He doesn't seem interested in that process. Very funny. Thanks for sharing with us at #SittingAmongFriends

Here at Windermere Farm, we also love pumpkins and growing them is fun. One year we sat quite a few pumpkins out front in our yard in an old farm wagon and when we came back from town, someone had taken all of them and left a donation in the wagon! That was a surprise to be sure. Thanks for sharing this wonderful book with us...my grandchildren would enjoy it too.

  11. Would love to have a copy!
We used to do lots of reading with my son when he was little.
By the time he went into kindergarten, we'd read over 2500 books, by the time he was in third grade he was reading at 12 th grade level, and by the time he finished 7 th grade he'd read over 7000 books. I saw him rummaging in the book case last week for another book to read.
I expect our grand baby to do the same, he is 5 months now and already loves picture books.
Nothing like teaching a kid to read, it can change the world, one kid at a time.

    1. Best wishes to you Annie. I am amazed at the number of books. I wish I'd kept track all these years. For ten years or so, I kept track of what I read. Then I started blogging, and writing took my attention.

      Blessings,
      Laura
