A Thrifty Week at Harvest Lane Cottage #79

Welcome to another thrifty week at Harvest Lane Cottage. I am honored by your visit.  Each week I share my thrifty and frugal projects, ways of saving money, and my blessings from God.

I am so glad you dropped in for a visit today—or tonight!

♥♥♥
Hello!
I am back. I enjoyed the chance to catch up on some blogging things and some email without the need to write regularly. For the next week or so, I'm going to be writing reviews that I haven't finished yet. Please be patient with me!

Fall is my favorite time of the year, so you can be sure that I'll be writing about all the things I love about home, family, faith, friends, and fall. Be sure to click on the tab above, Falling for Autumn to see some of my earlier Fall posts.

Here's my thrifty week:
  • We enjoyed Wendy's $.50 frosties for the family— again!
  • I received a gift of 40 pounds of Red Delicious apples.
  • My son found a western shirt on clearance for $3.00.
  • My husband found a couple of white dress shirts on clearance.
  • I chose to reuse old license tags to save $25 dollars when I paid my van taxes.
  • We rented movies on sale for seventy-five cents.
  • I received a new CD to review from a group my kids like— The Afters.

Well, that's my thrifty week.

  2. Hi Laura! Can you tell me how you were able to start getting free homeschooling materials in exchange for reviewing them? My DIL is homeschooling my 2 grandsons and we are always looking for ways to help them save money. Thank you!

    1. Hi Debbie,
I applied to The Old Schoolhouse Review team several years ago. That's how I got started. As for these last two reviews, I wrote to the company, gave my blog stats, and asked if I could write a review on my blog in exchange for a free product. I figured that it doesn't hurt to ask.

May God bless your family in Jesus' Name!

    1. Thanks Marci. I think I need to be a bit more intentional though. I'd like to cut my expenses some more with cold weather and Christmas coming. What are some of your favorite ways to save for Christmas?

    1. Hello Cheryl,

It's the middle of the night. I woke to the smell of my apple butter. It's just right. I was concerned that if I waited until morning, it would overcook. My crockpot runs so hot. So, I sterilized jars, and filled them. I left them on the stove to cool. I am not going to water bath them, because my stove top is broken. It's glass, and I've been limping along with it until God provides. I decided to let the apple butter cool, then it will go in the freezer.

This sounds like part of a blog post!
Have a wonderful week my friend!

  9. This week is last minute prep for my 50th high school reunion and I'm in charge of decorations so I don't feel thrifty.

But, we are still gathering tomatoes from the 4 plants we planted in the spring. Boy do they taste good. Steve has been having fun concocting delicious meals using them. And, our neighbors brought over fresh eggs from those noisy chickens that wake us up each morning.

    Thanks for sharing with SYC.

    1. Oh girl you made me smile with the chicken comment! I've had chickens in the past. I do miss them. We treated them as pets, and they gave us lovely eggs.
Be blessed and enjoy your reunion! That should be a fun time.
