A Thrifty Week at Harvest Lane Cottage #82

Welcome to another thrifty week at Harvest Lane Cottage. I am honored by your visit.  Each week I share my thrifty and frugal projects, ways of saving money, and my blessings from God.

I am so glad you dropped in for a visit today—or tonight!

Hello!
   You're probably wondering how I did at my yard sale. Zilch. My friend called a couple days before with a scheduling conflict, so we elected to reschedule it. I didn't have my calendar handy, so we don't have a date. That will give me more time to collect for it.

Here's my thrifty week:
Free socks for review
  • I was out at lunchtime and very hungry. I bought a $2 bag of mixed nuts. Pricey, but less than a fast food lunch and better for my body.
  • Refilled my water bottle instead of buying tea while I was out and about.
  • Wrote a review for free paintbrushes
  • Made some tissue holders from material and thread I had on hand
  • I tore up one of my husband's old t-shirts for rags.
  • I made a little pumpkin out of a thrifted t-shirt. I'll make some more and share the photos next week.
Discounted hair straightener for review
Well, that's my thrifty week.

What are you doing in your home this week?
~~~~~
A peek into my life...
A little laundry...
A lot of sorting warm clothes that had been packed in the basement...
A little helping my daughter with her blog.
Things packed back up for October when it gets colder.
  1. Eating at home, mostly. I cooked lunch for us yesterday, and today we're having supper leftovers.
    Donating a LOT of stuff from our old shop to the local women's shelter shop (not sure if this is thrifty, but better than trashing the stuff, right?).
    Cutting our own grass, and fixing our porch ourselves, rather than hiring those out. Yay for new lawnmowers that work!
    Starting 3rd grade homeschool tomorrow! (rather than driving ds to public school, this is far more than thrifty, but still)
    Happy Week!
    1. Hello Tammy,
      Yes, giving things away is absolutely thrifty. It's real estate investment! Enjoy 3rd grade, it's an awesome age.
      Be blessed,
      Laura
    1. I worked on them for awhile this morning, but I cut them all out, started sewing and realized I cut them way too small. I started hand sewing, but came to a standstill since they won't fit my inspiration.
      That will take a bit of creativity!
    1. Wish I could say the same! Mine has been delayed. Hubby is going to empty the garage and storeroom this weekend and help me sort.
  5. A very nice post!
    I would not have thought of nuts for a quick lunch out :)
    I was able to get a few things from our street vendor.
    He says perhaps one more week.
    He has said that for the last three or four weeks, smile.
    Very thankful for that :)
    I have been home mostly this week, so some gas savings at least.
    Since it has cooled some, the air conditioners have run less.
    I hung my laundry twice this week.
    I got lettuce marked down twice recently.
    I got several newish movies to watch at library, and books of course!
    I got the new Beverly Lewis book to review free.
    I finished that last night.
    I got baby gates, a swing, and stacking storage boxes from a face book site.
    I did well on those
    My son did get the DVD in for me, that you sent me the link for.
    I have already enjoyed it several times.
    Wow! I think I did better than I thought I would when I started writing :)
    Hoping to go to the flea market tomorrow while the weather is still good..
    Blessed October to you Laura!
  6. We seldom eat out. Generally just as a special treat at payday. I have insulated drink cans I try to take when I am going to be out also. That is about all I can think of right now. Have a blessed weekend.
  7. I have been collecting apples, pears and grapes from the tees on the farm and road side to preserve. It's been so summer like I am just beginning the whole fall clean up.
