Here's my thrifty week:

Not much to report this week...

~ I bought pumpkins on sale for $1.99 and $.99 a couple days after Halloween. We don't link carving pumpkins with Halloween. We just have fun and enjoy the seeds.

~ $25.32 saved by using Price Matcherz to find price matches to use at Walmart and cherry picking the deals.
  • American Beauty pasta (I bought 15 packages at $.49 each—enough to last for months.)
  • Land o' Lakes butter $2.49
  • Pillsbury cake mixes at $.49 (for pumpkin or cherry dump cakes)
  • I also bought three Marie Callender chicken pot pies (a family favorite splurge) for $1.78 each plus I stacked it with a $1.00 use it now coupon!
These are just a few of the bargains. Look at the Price Matcherz site to see what's available in your area. It's a free service that makes saving money easier.

~ We watched a free Redbox movie using a code my husband received by signing up for their text messages.

~ We also had a large family over for soup and dessert Friday night. My friend offered to bring chili, and I accepted. That's old-fashioned pot luck thrift.

Well, that's my thrifty week.

  1. Hi Laura,
We had Marie Callander pot pies for supper last night, I got ours on sale with a coupon at the commissary. They are so good! I plan to get more to keep in the freezer for busy days. Homemade would be cheaper but the frozen ones are much cheaper than going out.

Nice photo of you and husband ❤️

I truly respect your courage and conviction to make political posts. I'm a conservative and am very thankful conservatives hold the offices now.
But I have quite a few very liberal family members, they know how I feel but I keep my mouth shut to keep peace,

  2. Love the pic of you and hubby! Great deals, indeed! I don't have 1/100th of the stores that offer those deals way up here, but do use the coupon sites often. The pot pies are favorites of ours too! I make homemade ones with turkey after Thanksgiving and freeze them in small, ceramic 6" loaf dishes I got at Michaels two years ago for .15c each.

    1. I think I might have gotten similar ceramic dishes a few years ago at JoAnn's. I've never made potpies. How do you do it please?

    2. This time of year, I always have a dozen or so pie crusts in the freezer. There was a Pin that had a 10# bag of flour, minus two cups and it made 20 pie crusts (10 doubles). So with the help of hubby (he uses the pastry cutter:)--my arthritis would get the best of me; that's the way I make them now (or at this time of year when I'm baking a lot). I'll get both recipes and post them here, tomorrow.

  3. I was sad to see that my state wasn't on the match up site. Oh well, I can still use the savings catcher to catch those items that I miss. I have never had the Marie Callander pot pie. I will look into that. I like to have some easy things on hand for nights I don't feel well or don't plan well. :) Good to see a picture of you and the hubs!

    1. What can I say? My mom's version had biscuits on top. Good savings. Still waiting for a good sale on turkey here.

  6. Great picture, sweet friend. :) Have fun with the pumpkins...one time Zach threw out some seeds in our front yard, and we ended up having several grow right there! You jogged special memories for me tonight! God bless you.

    1. We've still got the pumpkins, I don't know WHEN we'll get them carved since ALL the kids have to be together at once. ~grin~

      Be blessed!
