This Earthly Life is a Battle ~ Laura Ingalls Wilder

"This earthly life is a battle," said Ma.
"If it isn't one thing to contend with, it's another.
It always has been so, and it always will be.
The sooner you make up your mind to that,
the better off you are,
and the more thankful for your pleasures."

~ Laura Ingalls Wilder
Little Town on the Prairie

Thank you God that we do not need to fight the battles alone. Thank you for being our hope, our provider, our savior, our healer, our everything we need.

If you don't know Jesus and his love for you, I'll be happy to talk with you about Him.

  1. It is indeed a battle but it makes the sweet times sweeter! Sorry I am so hit and miss visiting. A bit crazy around here as the move gets closer.

    1. You are so right. No worries about your visits. I understand. I'm the same way. Too much going on lately it seems to get much blog reading done.
      Hugs to you!

  3. Love this quote...it is so true. The sooner we lean into what God allows, the better, but much easier said than done, my friend. God bless you today!

  4. Oh Laura, You just always seem to post exactly what I needed to read! We've been in a whirlwind here. Hubby retiring end of month, we're buying a small 7 acre farm end of April and our little acre is going on the market tomorrow. There were bumps and disappointments along the way, but focusing on God's plan and not ours made all the difference. When one door closed, another opened, and sometimes it was several doors that closed. When I accepted the fact that the reason "my ideas weren't coming to fruition" was because the Good Lord had a better place in mind, it happened. I can not even begin to tell you what a glorious feeling it was to have TOTAL FAITH IN GOD'S PLAN and have it miraculously work out!! I am sure you know how that feels. To totally let go and let God. It's easy to talk the talk, but to walk the walk..I never felt more at ease and peace. We are so excited and looking forward to this new chapter in out lives. Will only be about 45 minutes from where we are now, so we'll still be close to kids and grandkids yet. I thank you for all your encouragement to keep God FIRST in our lives. You are an inspiration to me. Thank you and God Bless you dear lady.

    1. Oh Karla, your letter was uplifting to me. God's plan is the only plan that truly works. I'm glad you're finding that in your life. He loves you and wants the best for you. Hugs, Laura

  5. I had never heard this Little House on the Prairie quote before, but was thinking this very same thing the other night when I was doing my Bible reading. Lately, I just feel like everything is a struggle and most especially a battle spiritually.

Thank you for the reminder that we have a great God who goes before us and contends for us.
