Happy Homemaker Monday ~ April 24, 2017

As I write... Monday Morning

The weather.... The sky is bright and sunny. "Blue skies shining on me nothing but blue skies do I see." It's chilly outside, but I haven't looked at the temperature. The trees are sporting bigger leaves, some are even full grown leaves by now. It's nice to look out in the yard and see shade again.

Right now I am... writing a little post to you before I head to town to return some videos and go to a doctor appointment. Thank you Jesus that I can get medical care!

Thinking... I trust God, no matter what my eyes see, what my ears hear, or what my body feels.

A quote to share...

Looking around the house... I want to do some more decluttering this week.

    1. Thank you Judy! I procrastinate ironing, too. I think it's perfectly acceptable to tell your husband not to wear any ironed clothes. Tee hee!
      I receive that blessing!
May you be blessed by our Lord and Savior JESUS, too!

  2. Laura, it worked!! My dress to a skirt, I mean! Before I cut anything, I investigated it closely. I decided it might be easier to cut it about 2 inches above the *skirt* part and turn/hem that under into a waistband. Sadly, I didn't need elastic lol, but I took the ties that had been lower and sewed them into the new waist. I did everything by hand with pins to help guide me. I sewed all along, attaching the rough edge to the existing seam so nothing would show. Instead of using the ties in back, the ties will be used up front. So, for the cost of a few feet of thread and a couple of hours, I have a new summer skirt with pockets! I was so tickled that I nearly danced! I'm eying my closet for any new ideas. I saw that ruffles were *in* this year. I'm not a ruffly girl as I need no poufing anywhere. However, I thought a little sleeve ruffle might be a nice add. I have really long arms and I have a long sleeve linen blouse that has always been uncomfortable because the wristbands are about 4 inches too short. But it's a Victorian style blouse and I love the front. So, I'm going to cut off the wristbands, add some elastic at about the elbows, hem the rough edge, and give myself a ruffled sleeve blouse that is perfect for the summer humidity. I'll post my results later!

Sorry to be so long-winded, but I love when others share ideas that might help me out...I hope this does the same for anyone like me that's facing summer and few ideas and dollars!

Good luck with your doc! You reminded me that I haven't gotten my yearly test results back from my physical. I will call them today for copies.

Sun is shining brightly here, too. So beautiful & green!
I might sit out on the patio today and do some reading.

    Blessings to you!

    1. Thanks for telling me about your skirt. I need to try to make mine, but I have been distracted. I've also got an apron that I cut out and forgot! I would probably feel better if I sewed.
      Be blessed,

    1. Ironing on demand is pretty accurate around here. I don't know how long it would take me to do it all.
      Enjoy your week Anne.

  5. Sounds like a productive weeks list. I do not iron! I do not like to iron! So I buy most everything wrinkle free or ask my mil to iron for me. (cause she LOVES to iron) ;)
I love your quote! And your dinner menu...Funny! I hope its filling!
I don't normally plan a meal until I pull something out of the freezer. It works for me that way!

You have a beautiful family Laura!

    Enjoy your week my friend!

    1. Thank you Carrie. We went today. We waited almost two hours outside in line for lunch, but it was a great experience. Take a friend so you have someone to talk to!

    2. Jealous! Her store looks so fun! I would have to go to The Vintage Pearl if I was in Tulsa too, but I don't see that in my near future. Grandbabies are better and they are in Kansas City! Sorry you need more testing. The testing and subsequent waiting can be frustrating. Praying for good results! ;)

  10. I started Romans last week. I've been using the Life Study bible but all of a sudden there was NO commentary or historical references to anything. I was so disappointed! I found a Bible Study book on my shelf for Romans and have been using that. It's a lot slower than just reading the Bible but I'm gaining more insight into the book of Romans than I was getting so there is a bonus! I also have The Excellent Wife on my shelf ready to read next. Fun to see someone else is working on the same studies I am.

    1. Romans is a hard book for me... probably the hardest of the New Testament in my opinion bar Revelation!
Be blessed, thanks so much for writing to me Terri.

Thank you so much for "talking back" to me!

I read all comments and appreciate them.
Please make sure I have your email if you want me to respond or pray for you.

God bless you! This life only works with Jesus. The next life is a continuation of this one—make sure you spend it with Jesus. Jesus is the only way to God the Father!
