Looking for a Thrifty Week?

Hello!

If you're looking for A Thrifty Week at Harvest Lane Cottage, please come back next week. I had some difficult circumstances this week that kept me from doing much of anything around the house. Hopefully, I'll be back to normal next week.

It's been a week of blessing though. If one pays attention, there's always a blessing hidden even in the hard times. I may share about it later, I'm just not ready to talk yet.

I did get to do some neat things this week.

Monday night my husband and I went to my current favorite restaurant— Chik-Fil-A courtesy of one of my dear readers. Thanks so much Sandi. It was a treat! I got #1—a Chik-Fil-A Sandwich, cottage fries, and a lemonade. Yummy!

Tuesday a good friend invited me to go along with her to take our daughters and another of their friends to... drumroll please... Pioneer Woman's Mercantile in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. It was a long drive, a bit over two hours, but it went as quickly as our tongues. It had been awhile since we'd had a visit. ~smile~ The countryside is gorgeous in Northeast Oklahoma. We arrived just in time to stand in a long line outside. Fortunately, there was shade—at least at first—and a nice breeze. I wouldn't like to be there in the summer heat. We waited in line a couple hours, then enjoyed a nice lunch in the Mercantile. It is definitely a destination. Don't go unless you have plenty of time. We had a great time. Thanks JuLinda!

Amy, Jazmyne-the birthday girl, and Hannah

Wednesday I had some tests done. Not fun, but it's a blessing that I now have insurance so I could do it. Thank you God!

Thursday night I enjoyed a banquet with my daughter's Koinonia Christian club at a local college. Emily was one of the students selected to speak about her experience this year with the club. Thank you Emily!

Well, it was a busy week filled with activity and new experiences—and as long as I am here, I guess a new experience would be exciting. ~grin~

It's been a week filled to the brim with prayer, praise, worship, Bible, and sharing the love of Christ with others.

Blessings to you all, I should be back next week with thrifty week 100!

Enjoy now!

Trusting in God,
Laura

    1. That sounds delicious! I'd not heard of it before. I've only been eating at Chick Fil A since election time. I'd been there once or twice, but in the process of volunteering for the Republican campaign in our state, I ate it several times and got hooked. In fact, the night of the election, after I finished working at a poll, I stopped into a nearly empty Chick Fil A and enjoyed a meal. It's been crazy busy every time I've gone since then.

Enjoy the Merc when you go!

    1. Father God, I pray for a complete and perfect procedure and healing for Trudy Lord. You are able! You love her! You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! (Isaiah 26:3) Thank you Jesus for the stripes you took for our healing. Blessed be the name of the Lord. I plead the blood of Jesus over Trudy from head to toe and praise you that this came to pass and all will be well. Amen in Jesus' Name!

      Hugs to you sweet Trudy!

  8. Sounds like a great week, minus the doctor visit.
Hoping all goes well with that!

The mercantile sounds wonderful, but I would not like the long lines. I have seen some of her dishes! The colors, and flowers are very pretty. They are expensive here, even off pallet sales. They don't come up often on those.

You must have been very proud of your daughter. The pictures are very nice, very pretty young ladies you have.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Laura!

    1. It wasn't on my dime Annie. ~smile~ A blessing from God and my friend. I bought only a cup that Amy asked for. She so rarely asks for something. It was a joy to bless her.

  10. It was definitely our pleasure to invite you and Amy along to the Merc. Jazmyne is my right hand gal and helps keep our household running. It was fun to see her excitement at being there. It was well worth the expense. I fortunately had a few months to save for it.

    1. Yes. Have a great week Michelle. I do hope you're not having flooding problems. Our creek has covered our lower field—probably a hundred yards out of its bank. Our house is on a rise. God's protection to us all.
