Happy Homemaker Monday ~ July 3, 2017

As I write ...  Late Sunday Night

The weather....  The storms predicted seem to passed over us, but we had an amazing sunset.

Right now I am... Today is chemo day. I'll be going in at 12:00 for treatment that will probably last until 5:00. My friend, Rebecca, is coming with me.

Thinking... I cannot wait until all of this is over.

A quote to share...
♥♥♥♥♥
"I have never thought it necessary to save for the future or look out for myself or my family except that we trust God. So, when we see someone in need, an old woman, a sick person, or a helpless infant—I freely give whatever I have at the time. I know that later, when I am in need, God will provide for me. I don't need to look out for myself in any way other than to trust in Him.

Something fun to share...

Blog hopping...
On the menu for this week....
  • Monday night...  Chicken and Dumplings
  • Tuesday lunch...  Ham Sliders
  • Wednesday night...  Eat at church, I'll eat soup or whatever I feel up to eating at home.
  • Thursday night...  Greek Salad ~ A Trim Healthy Mama Recipe
  • Friday night...  Burritos / salsa / chips
  • Saturday night...   Scalloped Potatoes with Ham ~ I'll publish the recipe after I take some photos! I lived with an older couple for awhile when I was in college. This is Evie's recipe. I don't make it often, but oh it's so good when I do make it!
  • Sunday lunch... Shrimp Pasta Salad

On my to do list...
  • Chemotherapy Monday
  • Recover

In the workbasket... I'm knitting a hat. I was planning to make this flower for the top, but I had so much yarn left, I thought I'd try to make a second hat to leave at the cancer center for another patient. I made a smaller flower of another yarn that I think will coordinate. So I'm busy with the second hat right now. It's like the one I shared last week. I'll try to get a photo of it to share soon. I still need to sew the flower on.

Looking forward to this week... Lunch with my family on the Fourth of July.

Looking around the house... Celebrating a new ceiling fan to keep cool. Thank you Rick and Michael!

From the camera...

I'm not loving photos of myself right now,
but at least I don't have to worry about getting my hair just right!
My friend Karen made me this pretty cotton cap.
Thank you Karen!

Devotional...  Be Anxious for Nothing!

On my prayer list...
  • Peace of Jerusalem and Israel
  • Kristen, Cheryl's niece who will be delivering her baby on July 5th and has a blood clot in her lungs, trouble breathing, and heart trouble. It is very important that they change her medications at the right time before her C-section on July 5th. See updates on Cheryl Smith's blog
  • My husband will see a specialist about his knee on the 5th. Praying for a correct diagnosis and plan for treatment.
  • My friend, Al, is having back surgery July 6th.
  • Cancer will die the death in my body. My heart, brain, organs, and healthy cells will be protected. I will live and not die and declare the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Psalm 118:17
Father God, I pray that Holy Spirit will comfort and teach each reader. Bring healing to their bodies. Help them in the areas that they struggle to believe.  Help each find peace by trusting in you, your son Jesus the Christ, and the Holy Spirit. I pray that you will bring them and their unsaved loved ones to salvation in Jesus. I ask in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Thanks for dropping by!
Please say hello.

    1. Thank you Catherine.
Father God, I ask you to meet every need that Catherine and her family have or will have. I ask for complete healing of every sickness or disease, physically or mentally or relationally. I pray that lost souls will be saved. I pray that relationships will be restored. I pray that not one of her children, grandchildren or any of her generations will be lost but all will love and serve God with their hearts minds souls and strength. I pray that marriages will be strong, and that ALL of Catherine's relatives will love and serve Jesus all the days of their lives. I ask it all by the power of the blood of Jesus and in Jesus' Name, amen.

    1. God is good, Pamela. Thank you for praying.
Father God, I ask that you meet every need Pamela has. I ask it in Jesus' name. I also ask Holy Spirit, that you help her to hear your voice more clearly, and that you give her a hunger and thirst for her Bible, so that you may speak to her directly. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
      Hugs Pamela!

  10. Hi Laura! I love your cotton cap! I do think it needs a little flower though, to draw attention to your lovely face. :)

Aren't those little pantries adorable? I've heard of two in Wichita. I think it's a grand idea. So handy for people with no good transportation in a pinch.

I had to comment on your quote by George Muller. That was my mom to a tee! Now, my mom was a real handful- she was a bi-polar alcoholic-, but she never hesitated to give anything to anybody....ever. Admittedly, it drove me crazy at times! I'd fix her up an emergency kit so I knew that she'd have some good basics in case of an earthquake (in SoCal). Flashlight & batteries, food, a backpack, first aid kit, etc. I would check it every couple of months and it would be half empty. "So and so was walking in the dark. I didn't want a car to hit them so I gave them the flashlight" and so forth. I couldn't argue with her, but we were on such a tight budget, helping her, and she was giving everything away! When we were kids, our family had a nice motor home. In the storage below, we kept tents, sleeping bags, etc. so when our friends came camping with us, there was plenty of room. My mom always ended up giving all that away to homeless families we'd come across in the campground...after she took them dinner! "What could I do? They had 3 kids in a station wagon? It was COLD!" I could go on and on. When I'd ask her what she was gonna do when she had nothing, she'd always say, "God takes care of stupid people. I'll be fine." And so he did...take care of her. I will say that it took very many of us lol, but she was always taken care of.

I will pray that chemo this time isn't so hard on you!!

  11. Hope your treatment went well today, and I hope that you don't have any side effects this time. Give your self something to look forward to when your treatments are finished. Perhaps a special trip? We took the kids to Disneyworld to celebrate when I finished treatments.
Oh and don't be surprised if your hair comes back really really curly and soft

  12. Hoping for a good week for you.
I read the Aunt Bee post last night, I thought it was very good.
I remember that pickle episode of hers, but it's been years since I watched any of them.
I am reading An Amish Year by Beth Wiseman, I had already read the first two novellas, the first being much better than the second. I am enjoying the third one.

I had just this past week saved a link to a sandle like the link you shared, it had grosgrain straps. Thanks so much for posting this! Hoping to try a pair soon.

Bless you, hoping well for your husband's knee, mine have really been giving me problems for quite a while now. Hope he gets good results with whatever he decides to do!

    Hugs!

    1. I remember the pickle episode, too. Oh she was so distraught!
I don't think I'll be making the sandles. I don't think I have the skill necessary. I do think it's a terrific idea, so I wanted to show you talented ladies. ~smile~ I'm sure hubby will get good results, praying for him, too!
      Hope your week is pleasant.

  13. ((((HUGS)))) my friend and I come into agreement with you on your prayers. Those sandals look so pretty. I would have never thought that you could use an ordinary flip flop and make something that beautiful with it! I hope you have a wonderful celebration tomorrow with your family.

  17. The blue crochet flower will be a beautiful addition to the hat you are knitting. Please show us when it is finished. And if you find a pattern that you especially like please let us know. I admire your courage. The quote by George Muller shows amazing trust - surely the faith of a mustard seed. I've read about John and Charles Wesley and your quote reminds me how would like to read the biography of George Muller. I've seen photographs of the red marking-samplers on linen that the orphan girls of his school had stitched. Impressive. And heard only hints of Mr. Muller's life.

    1. I am doing well today, Billie Jo. No side effects today or tonight. I am having some back pain, but otherwise, I'm good so far. Praying for few or no side effects. My friend, Rebecca, who went with me made me realize that I was expecting to be sick this week rather than having faith that I would be well. So, I'm trying to set my faith for feeling good. I am also being proactive with the medicines they've given me to prevent side effects. Now time will tell. I don't sound very faithful. Jesus, I believe, help me with my unbelief.

      Hugs to you Billie Jo,
be blessed and enjoy each day.
