Welcome to another
Thrifty Week at Harvest Lane Cottage!
Each week I share ways I've saved money, my thrifty and frugal projects, and my blessings from God.

Hello!
I had my Herceptin chemo treatment this week. That, with a doctor appointment slowed me down quite a bit. I'm feeling better now. I'm looking forward to the time when I recover enough from all these treatments to truly be thrifty again. For now, I am doing what I can, with what I've got, where I am, and with the energy I have.

Here's my thrifty blessed week!
    • I cast on a new hat using some sock yarn that a new friend gave to me. Thank you Shelly!
    • Resurrection Day leftovers for meals on Monday and Tuesday.
    • I bought some nice healthy veggies on sale including avocados.
    • I bought a family pack of chicken breasts which my husband cooked for me. He cut each one in half lengthwise since they were so thick. Half a breast was a plentiful serving.
    • My elder daughter made a chicken pot pie (she made up the recipe) from the leftover chicken, a few potatoes we didn't use on Easter, a few veggies from the fridge, and the leftover cooked carrots from our chicken dinner the night before.
    • A friend gave me two really nice knitting bags. Thank you Laura!
    • I bought two half gallons of fresh raw milk for just $2 each from a friend. Thanks Sarah!
    • My son took two trash bags full of his clothes to the giveaway box.
    • My younger daughter and I filled a small box with books, knitting needles, a nice little hat, a sweater, and some extra school supplies. We took it the homeschool co-op. Most of it found new homes. The rest we dropped off at the thrift store.
    • Our health insurance paid most of my medical bills. Thank you Jesus!
    That's my week.
What are you doing in your home this week?

    1. Well, in spite of all you are going through, I would say you are still pretty thrifty, Laura. I am praying you well---but you know that.

I was thrifty this week by using all the leftovers that I found in the fridge while taking care of three grandgirls. xo Diana

    2. I had a nice thrifty week. We got a box of free beef flavor rice a roni at Bible study. One of the ladies brought some food she didn't need. So I added some ground beef to it to create a main dish. It was very delicious! She also brought a box of lava brownie mix so we were able to have those for dessert.

I scored a 55% off a regular price coupon from JoAnn so I was able to get a nice crochet bag.

I'm looking forward to hearing more thrifty ideas from you.

I really like your new blog design! The cherries are so cheerful and summery. : )

You have had a busy week. I enjoyed visiting your Ravelry page. The socks you knit are beautiful!

May you have a blessed weekend!

    4. That's great that your insurance covered all the medical costs! It can get pretty spend-y otherwise. Hope you have another great week.

    5. I can't imagine not having health insurance with the cost of medical care being so enormous. I'm glad yours is paying well for you. I think thrifty is a mind set, and even when we don't feel well, we still tend to stick to our thrifty ways. Looks like you had a great week being thrifty!

    6. Oh Laura chemo is the pits but it will help save your life. Speaking from experience here. It will wipe you out and make the toilet your buddy, maybe a little head achey, but you can do this.

God bless you! This life only works with Jesus. The next life is a continuation of this one—make sure you spend it with Jesus. Jesus is the only way to God the Father!
