Why a Bucket List?

Why a bucket list?
Because it can change boring and rusty

to beautiful and fun!

Last summer, after my diagnosis, I made a summer bucket list to give myself some things to look forward to so that it wouldn't just be the summer of chemo. It was a short list. It was still the summer of chemo, but I did some fun things, too.

I then made one for fall so that it wouldn't just be the fall of mastectomy surgery. I was able to do some fun things, then, too. Same with Christmas and the winter of radiation. It was all to give myself something to look forward to and to keep my mind off my treatments.

Nearly everything on each list was for enjoyment. My lists helped me make it through a very tough year. I can hardly believe that it's been almost a year since I found the lump. Believe me, I'll never forget the moment nor the date—April 22nd, 2017. It was one of the scariest moments of my life. I knew I would never be the same. But God was there for me even in the moment and in all the moments that followed.

God has been so good to me. I've still got months of treatments to go—IV Herceptin chemo treatments, lots of tests, at least two more surgeries, and long-term pills. But God will be with me every moment. My bucket lists will help me enjoy life along the way.

Thank you all for being part of my prayer and encouragement team. God bless you richly!

 Hugs,

  1. I gasped a little at the title to be honest, Laura. In the movie, they were doing a few things before departing-- but you are not departing. :-/

It's a Things to Do list! And you can put a million things on it.

You are an inspiration! God bless.

  3. My dear Laura, I like you very much ... you are mine, from which nothing is put before you to stop it. In Spain we say "bad weather, good face", yes, the negative must be faced and, in addition, overcome.
Your attitude to life is an example for everyone: your positive sense of life, your good humor, your smile, your beautiful pretty face ...
Dear friend, God is with you, my prayers too. Attack!!! Hahaha

  5. Love the thought that finishing it isn't the goal. So many times we think we have to check everything off and forget to revel in the accomplishments of doing some of the list.

  6. I just love how your always so positive and looking forward :) I don't think I've ever made a bucket list. The most it's ever been is just a few ideas rattling around in my head, but nothing ever written down.Maybe I should think on some new ideas :) Blessings to you sweet Laura

  9. Oh, Laura, I had no idea you had a cancer diagnosis. It's been many months since I've visited any blogs. (And I'm not currently writing a blog now---removed all my old posts.)

You have an amazing attitude, so full of hope and trust. I am praying for you, that every single cancer cell would be removed from your body.

    Love,

  10. Laura, I think of you often and what you are going through! I can not imagine how terrible the chemo and radiation is. I will go back in on June 4th and they will reinsert the expander in the right side. Hoping I don't get infection again. If you ask me, a bucket list is good any time! Especially good to help us get through hard times. :) Thanks for sharing with SYC. Love your cute cherry border!
