Laura Lately ~ Checking In After Quite a Week

It's been a challenging week. I missed an important deadline, because I just found the notice in my inbox. As I was explaining my week and apologizing, I thought I'd share it with you, too.

God is so good. I've really appreciated feeling him with me during all this.

 This week:
  • I attended my step-mom's funeral, began a long-term substitute special education teaching position,
  • my daughter announced that she's getting married September 24th (to a fine Christian young man),
  • my friend's husband was found dead in his camper,
  • other friends lost their baby at 36 weeks,
  • and I received the results from my MRI and bone scan that showed that I do not have cancer (Thank you Jesus), but I do have arthritis in several areas and a couple bulging discs in my neck.  There was nothing conclusive about the bone pain in my leg or the headaches that lead to the MRI. So, back to square one, but without cancer hanging over my head! Very thankful to Jesus for that! I am going to keep praying for healing.

All this to say, I've not checked my email or blog comments for a few days. What a week!

Have a wonderful week, and know that God is sustaining me through all the craziness well.

Your faraway friend,
Laura Lane

  2. Goodness, Laura! When it rains it pours! What a week! Praise God for His unfailing love and presence in the midst of our troubles and trials. He is, indeed, so good! I'm sorry to hear about your step-mom, Lowell's friend, and the friends that lost their baby. My thoughts and prayers are with, and over, all. We lost a dear friend and extended family member here this week, as well. Congratulations on your daughter's upcoming wedding! Emily? Or Amy? Heather (our oldest granddaughter) is getting married on September 10th. Praise God for the good report concerning no cancer! Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! My heart rejoices with you as you celebrate God's faithfulness! I will continue to stand with you in agreement for complete healing over the arthritis and bulging disks. God bless you, my sweet friend. Have a good weekend and get some rest! I love you! <3

    1. Hello Friend Rebecca,
We've had 3 weeks straight of holding on for the ride and leaning in close to Jesus. He takes such good care of us. I thank you for your kindness and prayers. My dad is 80. He's active and involved in a food ministry. He also knows his neighbors and has people to check in on him. I'm glad. He's in KC, MO. Amy is getting married. He's a great guy. Emily has moved to Bentonville to work as a therapist. Thank you for praying for my pain. ~smile~ I know you're a great prayer! I don't want to ride the cancer rides again. Not much rest this weekend. I'll be working full-time as a sub for a few weeks at the school, so I'm expecting to be tired by next weekend!
      Bless you my friend!

    1. Thank you Cheryl. You are so kind. I'm focusing on the no cancer part. Hopefully, the pcp can figure out the issues that lead me to have the tests initially. Enjoy your week!

  4. Laura, I am so happy your cancer journey is going well! My cousin is now going through treatment for hormonal breast cancer. She just finished the first round of chemo. Now on to the second round, and radiation then surgery. Her tumors are shrinking!! Happy Day! Life is moving fast and as I get older, I find myself behind a lot. But I am taking time to smell the roses along the way. I pray for your friend and your family, death is never easy. ~jackie~ I just celebrated 33 years with my ileostomy. Doctors told me they bought me time with this surgery, well 32 years is a pretty good run!

  7. I've loved reading your blog for years. I miss you when you're not able to post. I had a troubling week myself. Both of my laptops crashed. I took the newer one to get it fixed and now I'm having to set it up again because they replaced the hard drive. I've been trying to remember all the blogs I followed. I had yours written down thankfully. Love ya! Have a blessed week.

    1. Thank you so much. Sometimes one wonders if others are notice when there's a gap. Although I have a season of full-time work ahead of me, I hope to write at least once a week.
Bless you for being a faithful reader. I hope all goes well with your new hard drive and that you find your favorite blogs!

  8. Oh dear! Prayers for those who've lost loved ones 💕 For you and your headaches, have you tried different shoes w/ good support? I know I get headaches if I wear the wrong shoes for too long. And congrats to your daughter - that's our anniversary :-)
