My thoughts:
I am actually surprised at the quality and depth of this course. I didn't learn this in my college English classes...and I was an English major! I will definitely be spending more time with this course. I've listened to the lectures and read through much of the written material. This is a course that will move you through the steps from the beginning steps of choosing what to write about through characters, dialogue, how to move the story along through scenes, etc.

I like this curriculum, because it is written and taught by video by the staff of Guideposts. They are publishers, so they know what publishers are looking for in stories. There's a lot of inside information about what they like to see and what they don't like to see in stories.

There's a lot of emphasis on just getting started, because everything that is published will be re-written many times. That's something that I've forgotten in the blog world where we usually edit our own posts.

Every module is taught from an expert perspective through videos, with a companion downloadable and printable workbook. Then there is a quiz over the video. It's a way to see if we truly understand before going on.

This is an inexpensive alternative to a college course. The teaching is concrete and to the point. It's interesting and keeps attention. These teachers make me believe that I can write my story. I expect, even as a college graduate, that this will help me as I try to put my breast cancer experience into words, even if it is only for myself. I expect to use it with my high school daughter as well.

Thus course is excellent!  The short recorded sessions with Edward, Rick, Colleen, Jim, and Amy, were full of helpful information for writers in any genre.  The workbook download helped me with note taking and reinforced the learning.  I also am grateful that I can retake the course whenever I need a refresher.  It is definitely worth $24.99.
