Mama, Sing My Song by Amanda Seibert and Amanda Garland touched heartstrings for my daughter Amy and I. I've been reading to Amy since before she was born, 21 years ago, and she is still my read aloud girl when I get a new children's book. We were in tears as we read this book, because I made a song for her as a baby, and I've often heard "Mommy, will you sing me my song?" at bedtimes through the years. Alas, she's marrying Saturday, and this will be the last time she snuggles up to be my "read to me" girl. ~smile~ She's been very indulgent with me! You just cannot get the feel for a storybook unless you read it aloud.
We really enjoyed this little book. There's a code on the inside of the book, so you can download the song to enjoy with the lyrics that make up the book. I did not, but I enjoyed the book tremendously. She told me that I was going to be the librarian for her children someday.
This book is definitely a keeper. It's meant not only to read and sing to your little one, but it's also meant to be a keepsake. There are places inside the covers to record the following:
- To, from, and date
- Wonderful Qualities I See in You
- My Hopes and Dreams for Your Life
- The Special Meaning of Your Name
- A Word or Verse I Speak Over Your Life
- My Prayer for You
