I've Heard a Peep

Image
Spring has definitely arrived at Harvest Lane Cottage. Not only do we have flowers coming up everywhere, we also have the sweet little peeps of baby chicks filling our back porch room. We have 6 little Buff Orpington, Three Rhode Island Red, and One Barred Rock Hen. Why the mix? Because each of my three younger children bought the ones they wanted. My only stipulations were that they buy pullets and take care of them. Hopefully, they'll all be hens. If not, I guess they'll be supper. Either way, they'll be food. I try to teach the children that farm animals are for food; but, we give them the best life we can while they're here by caring for them well. Happy Sunday! Laura

I Absolutely Loved This Kitchener's Stitch Tutorial from Knit Picks!

Last night I sat down in front of my computer to "knit off, purl through, purl off, knit through" while I watched Miss Kelley and followed her every move. I couldn't believe it. You cannot even see where I joined my stitches together! Wow. I've got to learn how to put photos on this computer so that I can share what I've done.

Such Quiet...

Yes, the children have been away with friends. For a time last night, all four of our little birds were out of the nest! As they get older, I know they'll spend more time away; but, it sure felt strange to tuck just one little birdy in her little bed last night.

New Knitting Tutorial Links

I've added a new tutorial to my list in the sidebar. It's great for new knitters. It's for simple garter stitch fingerless gloves. Take a look it and the other links for tutorials. It's never too early to start those Christmas gifts! I've already made a pair for my mother-in-law to match the hat I made for her from the tutorial at Knit Picks .

The Young Man of my Dreams, my Thoughts, and my Prayers

Image
Matthew's been out of the nest for three full weeks now. I think of him so much and pray for him so much. I had a good phone conversation with him a couple of nights ago and HE CALLED ME! Hurrah! He's adjusting well to school. I think he likes the challenge, though he hasn't said so. He is busy busy busy now. That's a good thing for a nineteen year old. Now if Momma can just adjust!
