1 Key to Unlock 5 Awesome Symbols



How to use the ten key number pad and the Alt key to do awesome things.

How to make a copyright symbol © on a keyboard.
Hold down the Alt key and type 0169.

How to make an em dash—on a keyboard.
Hold down the Alt key and type 0151.

How to make a degree ° on a keyboard.
Hold down the Alt key and type 0176.

How to make a heart ♥ on a keyboard.
Hold down the Alt key and type 3.

How to make ☺ on a keyboard.
Hold down the Alt key and type 1.

  5. Are these tips for a Mac also? I tried the alt 3 and didn't get a heart?

    1. Try googling it. I found this, but I don't know if it will work since I have a PC.
      Hope it works!

      "Go to System Preferences -> Language & Text (or whatever it's called in Mac OS X 10.5), go to the Input Sources item and check the box next to Keyboard & Character viewer. That will add a menu at the right side of your menu bar that allows you to show the Character Viewer. Do that, and find the heart symbol (among the many, many other symbols). Double-click it to insert it."
