MY WINTER BUCKET LIST
2018
This isn't your typical to do list.
This list is about doing things that
bring me joy.

bring me joy.
This winter will be a little different for me. I'll be going through radiation five days a week for seven weeks to make sure breast cancer does not return. I'll continue my IV treatments every three weeks, and take my medicines like the doctor tells me.
BUT
I am not cancer. Cancer is not my life. Cancer is not my identity. I want to have fun this winter as much as I can. That's why I made this fun to do list that I call my winter bucket list.
What will you put on your list?

I think everyone needs a joy list just to remind us that joy is all around for the taking!
ReplyDeleteI'm learning that in a whole new way Anne!
DeleteHave a wonderful week!
Laura
I think your list absolutely perfect.
ReplyDeleteI continue to pray for you, my dear friend.
Happy and Blessed New Year!!!
And Healthy too!!!!!!!
Thank you thank you thank you!
DeleteRadiation set up appointment this morning.
Hugs,
Laura
I love your list Laura and I pray that God give you strength as you finish up these treatments so that the nasty cancer has no chance of returning. God has been so faithful and I have seen your faith grow so much during these trials as you put your complete trust in HIm. Be blessed and here is to a Happy and Healthy 2018!
ReplyDeleteOh Debbie, thank you so much for praying. God has been very faithful. I'm still learning to trust HIM on a whole new level. God bless you Debbie!
DeleteLaura
I'm stealing your list because you make such great ones! :)
ReplyDeleteI am loving your smiling 18 month old self on the sidebar. It makes me smile every time I come here.
You can't steal it, I'm giving it to you! Enjoy!
DeleteYou amaze me my friend! I talk with you so often now, you should be my next door neighbor, who I talk to on Facebook! LOL!
ReplyDeleteNo dear, cancer is not your name, cancer is not your life, but my prayer is that you continue to rest, recuperate, and heal.
Radiation 5 days a week isn't going to be a walk in the park. It is going to be tiring, not just the treatment itself, but the travel hither & yon. Remember to rest.
Your winter list gave me pause, smiles and encouragement to take a moment and decide what I would like to do.I love the idea of reading by candlelight.A lovely smelling candle. So, a winter list is starting.
As always, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers! Find some peace to rest your soul, Laurie
I consider you a friend, too, Laurie. I enjoyed reading for awhile tonight.
DeleteI am not looking forward to radiation, but I know it must be done.
God bless you!
Laura
Love your winter bucket list.. Sounds fun and doable..
ReplyDeleteWhen will you start your radiation treatments? Praying for you and family.
Hope you get to enjoy lots of fun winter time fun.. The hot chocolate cart sounds like a great idea.. I love HOT chocolate..
Hugs my friend.
Hi Judy,
DeleteI start my radiation on the 16th. Just can't wait...NOT! Tee hee. I got out Emily's quilt and started hand quilting again. I've got several hours left to sew. Have a wonderful weekend. We're supposed to have icy rain tomorrow.
Hugs,
Laura of Harvest Lane Cottage
That is a wonderful list, I just keep trying to get through the day with mom. She has fallen twice in the last 10 days. So scary.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you dearie!
DeleteFather God, I ask you to strengthen Kim, encourage her, give her respite.
Father, help her mama, bring healing in every way needed. Holy Spirit
saturate the atmosphere with your love whenever Kim calls out to you.
I ask it in Jesus' name. Amen.
That's a great list Laura! My girls love to get fresh snow and make slushies. We haven't gotten snow yet and it looks like we won't have any. Have fun doing your bucket list.
ReplyDeleteHello Regina,
DeleteI hope you do get some snow. I hope we do, too!
Blessings,
Laura
Hi Laura, I love the look of your list !! Hubby and I are trying to eat Trim Healthy Mama and my cookbook arrives soon :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you and your family this New Year.
Hello Linda!
DeleteJust wanted you to know that I am enjoying your soap. The peppermint fragranced the whole bathroom for Christmas!
May God bless you for your kindness and generosity. Calendula is in the shower now. I've not started THM again yet.
I think I would feel better if I did. I ate way too much sugar over Christmas time.
Blessings,
Laura
You'll be kept in our family's prayers. How did your New Years Eve go? Were you able to cross a few more items from your bucket list?
ReplyDeleteNew Year's Eve was great. I spent it with family at church. We worshiped the new year in.
DeleteGod bless you Micah! May you hear Holy Spirit's voice clearly this year.
Laura
P.S. Workin' on that bucket list already!
Hey, your list sounds all warm and cozy and several of those things are on my list, too. I'm making chili today as we are expecting SNOW in eastern NC tonight.. a very rare thing, so we are all excited. I've got lots of good reading material, hand sewing projects, plenty of food... I'm ready! I hope the radiation isn't too tough on your body... my aunt had it done and her skin in that area was pitiful by the time she finished. But it was all worth it...... she is now cancer free! I will continue praying for you Laura!
ReplyDeleteI am hoping and praying Penny that my skin will fair well, however, it's my heart and lungs I'm most concerned about.
DeleteI'm praying for God's protection. It sounds like you're ready for snow. I'd love to have a snowed in day, but I guess
starting tomorrow, my time won't be my own. Hugs to you, Laura
Hi Laura!
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful bucket list and I know that God will help you do everything on that list!
Be blessed!
:)
Thank you so much Paula. I enjoyed visiting your blog.
DeleteYou are such an inspiration! Love your list! Think I'll steal a few of your ideas! Continuing to pray for you daily! God bless!
ReplyDeleteNo need to steal! God will not tempt you beyond what you're able to bare! I give it to you. Tee hee.
DeleteThank you for praying. If you send me your email, I'll be able to reply directly to you. You can see mine in the sidebar. Hugs, Laura
I'm off to a really slow January start. I don't have a winter list even in my brain right now! I might have to poach your list as it sounds wonderful!! When looking at movies, might I suggest, "The Magic of Ordinary Days"? It's a Hallmark movie and very good.
ReplyDeleteI do have a big crock of vegetable soup simmering and it's starting to smell delicious. That has to be my very favorite winter dinner. There's some homemade honey wheat bread to go with it. Yummy!!
Hi Debby,
DeleteBe well and healed in Jesus' name! Don't give up. I know that some ladies find relief for some of your symptoms with Trim Healthy Mama eating plan. Google it. When I follow faithfully, I feel better. Let's not discuss the chocolate covered cherry I'm eating!
I wish I had my mama's veggie soup recipe. I didn't like it as a child, so I never learned to make it. I wish I could ask her, but she's moved to Heaven.
I love honey oat bread.
Happy today and tomorrow and weekend!
Laura
P.S. Radiation set up is tomorrow.
I hope the radiation doesn't affect you. I'll add that to my regular prayer for you tonight!
DeleteI love your bucket list Laura. Sounds like a lot of joy to be had. Take care and God bless.
ReplyDeleteHi Thrifty Mom!
DeleteIt's good to meet you. I hope we'll become friends.
Blessings,
Laura of Harvest Lane Cottage
Beautiful list! I continue to pray for your health. May 2018 bring you joy. Sherri/Pleasant hill mo
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Sherri. I appreciate the prayers. Oh...we're halfway there..ooh oh living on a prayer!
DeleteYou are so right in that you are not cancer and the cancer is not in control! You always have been and always will be in my mind a sweet, loving, beautiful lady I call friend. Love your bucket list dear!
ReplyDeleteYou're always so kind to me. Thank you Michelle. Looking forward to meeting you
Deletein person.
Laura, my favorite? "Spend an entire afternoon with my Kindle and a candle." Love it! You are handling your recovery in such a wonderfully positive way, and I hope the 7 weeks will pass quickly.
ReplyDeleteHello dear Jean,
DeleteI haven't had my Kindle and candle afternoon yet, but I shall!
I'm trying to be positive Jean. I hope the time will pass quickly, too.
Usually I am longing for snow and winter. This time I'm longing for spring!
I should be done by March 2 with radiation treatments. I don't know how long it will
take to recover from them. Hopefully, by next fall, I'll be done with all my treatments!
I'm so glad you dropped by. I will come for a visit. Take care, Laura
P.S. Love your blog! Just signed up to follow you at Delightfulrepast.com .
Hi Laura;
ReplyDeleteLove your bucket list for 2018. We still have the tree up and most of the decorations. Thursday we had about 8 inches of snow ,so that day was occupied by shoveling. Will try and finish the Christmas decorations down in a few days. Will get ready for the Valentine decorations to go up in a few weeks. Laura you are in my daily prayers. Thinking of you.
Marion
You are right Laura! You are not Cancer, and Cander is not your life. Glad you have a positive attitude and have made this wonderful bucket list! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
I'm enjoying the list already, Jann. With radiation starting next week, I want to enjoy as much as I can while I still feel well enough. How are you?
DeleteI love your bucket list Laura... always best to look up, rather than down or around! I like your words about cancer, as so many people take on a persona of cancer, as it surely does eat into every part of your life. However, I know that your attitude and trust in the Lord is truly making the difference for you! BIG hugs and many prayers sent your way dear friend!!!
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful attitude and God is in control... Looks like you have a great start on your bucket list!
ReplyDeleteThanks Suzy. God is great and greatly to be praised!
DeleteA great bucket list! I have a general bucket list but I think a winter one is a good idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
