My washer finally died a couple days before Christmas. We have had this washer repaired twice in the last seven months, and it was not worth putting any more money into it. I asked my husband to look for a second hand machine. We were unable to locate one Christmas week. This week we had a new Maytag delivered using our emergency fund. We received a sale price of nearly $250 off the suggested retail price. On New year's day, a dear man shook my hand with a $100 Walmart gift card. On New year's day, someone gave me a check for $300 just to bless us (distant family members).
That was $400 of the sale price of $530 that we paid for the washer! God is so good! We will put the $300 in our emergency fund and keep the Walmart card for minor emergencies or to pay for the extra gas it will take to go to Joplin (about 40 miles round trip) every day for radiation. Thank you Jesus!

What a wonderful blessing! I don't know if you've thought of this, but I would listen to an audio book while going to and from radiation! I bet it would help make those trips shorter! Good luck! Hugs, Holley

ReplyDeleteSome years ago, our ancient dryer pooped out. Since I drip-dried most everything, it wasn't a tragedy so I just coasted along without one. Then, we hit one of those rare years in SoCal that it rained and rained and rained. Nothing was drying!! So, I opened the local Penny Saver to see if I could find a dryer and prayed I wouldn't end up with one that would burn our house down!
And I saw it...a former neighbor that kept their same phone number had a dryer listed! I called them & bought it immediately. Best dryer I ever had! But that wasn't the end of it. It was a gas dryer and when we were making the move to KS, we learned that our home was wired for an electric dryer only. So, we were going to sell the gas dryer. I went out to dinner with my Bunco group and one of them mentioned that her dryer just died. They lived in a small condo so drip drying wasn't so easy. I mentioned that they were welcome to have ours, if it would fit. I assumed they had a stackable. Lo & behold, they had a full sized laundry closet so it would fit! The day before we moved, her son & husband came to pick it up. The last time I spoke with her, just a couple of years ago, she said that dryer is still going! (Honestly, I wish I still had it. Electric dryers aren't so great!)
I can think of no one more deserving and God is good. You are one of his sparrows.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless you Laura.
Praying for you on this next phase of your journey.
So happy for your family Laura.
ReplyDeleteAbout Dollar General, I use only digital coupons so no printing needed. I look at the deals on Greg’s site, clip the digital coupons needed to my account, then I shop at DG andput my cell number in the keypad and the coupons “magically” come off. The only downside is you can only use 1 of each digital coupon.
I’ve been couponing a long time and this DG digital coupon system is the easiest way of all.
My advice is start small and see how it works and how you like it.
I'm so glad God blessed you with tangible help. There have been several times in my life where people have given me money at just the right time, as well. In fact, it happened to us over Christmas, as well. Someone slipped us some money, not related to Christmas, just in time to pay for something that we were struggling to pay. (We could have paid it, but it would have made January really, really "pinchy."). So kind. We are praising God, too.
ReplyDeleteOh, that is so neat! I will keep you in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteThis post just made me so happy! I love how God works and meets our needs. Thank you for sharing this...it really blessed my heart!
