In the Words of Jane Austen...

"To sit in the shade on a fine day and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment."

Verdure is green growing vegetation.  Think grass and trees and plants. Having a new puppy has taken me outside much more often lately for obvious reasons.  I love the big old shade tree in our front yard.  It's some kind of Maple.  I think it would take two people to get their arms around the trunk.

God's so good to provide cooler shade on hot days.  Just think.  He didn't have to make it cooler in the shade, but he did.  I'm also thankful that our creek is cold even in the summertime.  It's just about a quarter mile walk down the pasture then we can take that first icy step into the water.  You know the one.  The step that makes you think you want to get right back out.  ~smile~  The one that you cringe over just before the kids splash that frigid water all over you.

May God bless you.  Enjoy your week!

  1. Hello There!

Yes, I know that feeling of that freezing cold water splashing all over you kind of feeling! It's cold for the moment, then you are fine. My boys think they are pretty funny, when they manage to get me wet by the pool. So, if I don't want to get soaked, I avoid the pool. Smiles!

We have been getting a massive amount of rain. We have flooding and it's still raining. And, with all this we'll have the mud. And, I won't complain a bit, because we so need the moisture. So happy to hear the rain on the rooftop.

I'm so glad you have been enjoying your many trips outside. Enjoy the shade and all those splashes in the water. They go rather quickly, don't they?

    Have a wonderful week, Laura!

    Hugs,
    Amy

  2. Verdure...I love words! This one is a new one for me. Not sure I'll be using it any time soon since it's easier to use grass, trees, or vegitation, but I really like this sound of "verdure"! Am I nuts?!! LOL Thank you for sharing! I caught a moment of relaxation looking at the photos you shared and reading your words. Blessings to your day!

  5. Oh Kaylene,
I'm so glad. I had to look up the word myself. I was just so sure that it was something else misspelled!
Nice to know, but I probably won't use it much either.
    Blessings,
    Laura
