A Chatty Little Hello From the Cottage ~ October 25, 2019

Hi everyone! Just popping in to say hello.

If you read my last post, you know that my husband found a computer for me. It's a Dell Optiplex 3020. That doesn't mean anything to me either. ~smile~ What I do know is that it's much smaller than my last desktop. It seems to be working great, too. I want to thank Penny Holland, Mr. and Mrs. David Entinger Helen Threlfo for their donations. Your generosity helped me purchase a very nice reconditioned computer. That fits my thrifty lifestyle.

Lately, I've been cozying up the cottage for the cold weather that will soon be here. It's been raining all day, and it's been in the forties. Next week there's a chance of snow! Just imagine. That's really early for Southern Missouri. That means I need to stock up on cocoa and soup fixin's!

I've made chili and a beef and cabbage soup this week. My husband has requested garlic cheese potato soup for tomorrow night. We've got good friends coming for a soup supper. My friend, Joyce, from Morris Patch of Heaven Homestead and her family are coming. Joyce is bringing minestrone. I invite you to go see her latest video, and tell her I sent you.

Well, I hope you're enjoying your Fall. I'm trying to do as many things on my Fall Bucket List as possible over the next couple of weeks. Why the rush? I found out this week that I'm going to have surgery again. I need to have my implant replaced. November 11th is the date.  I'm not sure what recovery will be like this time. So, that means I need to pack in all the fall fun and Thanksgiving planning that I can between now and then.

Well enough for now. I hope you have a terrific weekend.
Laura

    1. Thank you Paula. I know it sounds strange, but I keep forgetting that I have the computer. It's over in the corner, and I keep walking right past it. I've got to get into a habit of writing again. Thank you very much for the prayers. I truly appreciate them. I'm so glad that you dropped by and that you left me a note. I hope to hear from you again. Laura

  5. Hi Laura, I don't know squat about computers either. I used to change out mother boards and hard drives on my job...but that's the easy part. Glad you can blog at least. I read the previous post...nice gift for house warming. Bless you, xoxo, Susie

    1. Hi Susie,

Thank you so much for talking back. That's what makes blogging fun. Getting to know others is the best part. Followed right behind by sharing the love of Jesus. Isn't it weird that something can be so complicated, that you build it, and yet you don't know how it works? I hope you have a wonderful October ending and November beginning. God bless you. Laura

  6. Hello sweet friend! I am LOVING this cold weather---woo hoo!! I'm taking the kids to Harrison tonight for their homeschool Fall formal and I'm really looking forward to seeing all the pretty fall colors. I would love to see your recipe for garlic cheese potato soup---sounds delicious! Have you been doing much sewing lately? I'm back in the mood as I'm able to be home more. I made a dress for Brenna and am working on a Narnia vest for Avalon. :) I will be having surgery the same week as you---I've been in and out of the hospital for kidney infection. Blah. Well, hope all is well! Sending you love from across the border! Ha!

    1. Hi Sarah. I've been sick for the last couple of days. It's been kind of weird just headache and achy body, and I haven't wanted to eat. So I have not made the potato soup yet.

I'll have to pay attention to what I put in the soup as I make it this time. I usually just throw it together.

How are the colors down there? They are just beginning to pop here.

I've not been sewing yet, even after challenging myself in September! I haven't set up a good place for supplies and my machine. Maybe if I did, I would get motivated.

Surgery just in time for the holidays will no doubt impact how much I do this year.

      God bless you,
      Laura

    2. I'm so sorry to hear about your health! I hope this surgery takes care of everything and that you just keep improving.

Father God, I plead the bood of Jesus over Sarah for complete healing. Bring peace to her mind , help to her side. I ask it in Jesus' name.

      Hugs,
      Laura

    1. Hi Linda, That was taken around six weeks ago. I need to get my daughter to take another photo. I'm thinking about cutting it shorter before surgery. If I don't it will be because there are too many things on my to do list! I want to make sure I leave things as organized and finished as I can since it's only a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving. I may or may not feel up to handling that. I think I'll let my husband take the lead and let all the kids make their favorite dishes. I've taught them how over the last few years. I've had surgery the last two Octobers, but November will be a little trickier with the holidays.  I think I need a new way to bring in the holidays next year!!!!!

  11. I haven't been by in awhile, as I've been on a long blog break. Break is over, and I am now back to writing and reading blogs again.

What a beautiful photo. You have lost a lot of weight, haven't you? Congratulations! Losing weight is hard work but your hard work has paid off. You look awesome!
