Hello everyone! It's been a truly busy week. I was out of the house more than usual. I found myself happy when I could spend time at home. That's a big change from a couple of years ago. This past year has helped me become a bit of a homebody. I'm content with that. I just need to remember to reach out to others, too. ~smile~
My list is a bit short this week. I've been very tired. I'm not sure why. I hope I'll feel better and get more done this next week.

I'm still driving my husband's 1989 Grand Marquis.
It was a gift from a friend five or six years ago when I was driving six family members in 12 different directions. Back then there were some weeks I put over 500 miles on our old van. This is the ultimate in thrifty driving!

A Verse for You

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:6-8

Here's my thrifty week!

~ We got rid of about 2/3 of what was in our garage including what we got rid of last week. Just gave most of it away or trashed it. Amazing what we hold on to. I still have things to go through, but at least the things I need to work on are accessible now.  That's major real estate investment! At $100 a square foot, that's thousands of dollars.

~ My husband was inspired and got rid of some junk that had been sitting around in the yard.

~ I cut tea boxes down to make organizers for my tea drawer.

~ I am still in the process of going through my old recipe box. I am typing favorites up, and some will go into the recipe book my husband and I are writing. Others will be discarded. I'm using scrap cardstock to make new dividers. Mine are so old, they are disintegrating.

~ I am reading books I received free for review or books that I'm reading on my Scribd app.

~ I am knitting with yarn that was given to me.

~ My son and husband rebuilt our flower bed wall. It's Carthage marble. Michael used YouTube to learn how to do masonry. They saved hundreds by doing it themselves.

~ Tonight I am cooking a beef tenderloin that was a gift from my father.

~ We ate primarily out of our cupboards to free up a little grocery money for other things this past week.

That's my thrifty week.

What are you doing in your home this week?

One thing that helps me keep busy is listening to audio books on Scribd

It's only $9.99 a month for unlimited audiobooks from major publishers, books, magazines, sheet music, podcasts, and documents as you want.

I get well over $9.99 a month in value. I love it.

You can get a free 2 month trial by using my Scribd  link. I'll get a month free, too, so it's win-win to try it out.

In love since 1981.
For richer or poorer since 1986.

  1. Sounds like you have been very busy and I hope you feel better soon. A few weeks ago we cleaned out Hubby's garage where we had a lot and I mean a lot of containers of things for a yard sale. We decided to go through them and donate what we could and just throw again what was not good enough.

    1. Good for you! Half the stuff that was in my garage was waiting for us to decide to have a sale. It's worth more gone!

    1. I still have more to do with the recipe box. Typing the recipes into the computer does take a lot of time.
