I LOVE YOU MONTH... LEARNING

I love learning!

I love learning new things. Over the years, I've learned to quilt, bake bread, can, sew, crochet, knit, cross-stitch, embroider, and many other things.

Currently, I'm learning Spanish with Duolingo, Western Heritage from the Book of Genesis to John Locke with a free online course from Hillsdale College, rug twining using YouTube videos, and I'm using The Bible Recap on the Bible.com app, too.

Monday, the 16th, I'm adding something new. I've resigned from the school district. I enjoyed four years of substitute teaching; but, God's moving me into a new phase and a new position. I've accepted an office position in a pediatrics office just three minutes from my home. It will be a learning experience in a couple of ways.

First, I've got to learn the computer system and the job. At 60, that will be a challenge. ~smile~ I'm a reader and a learner, so I'll be able to do it. Second, it's been 35 years since I've worked full-time outside the home. That, too, will be a challenge. ~God's plan—not mine!~ His plans are always good, though, aren't they? I'll tell y'all about it sometime.

A third challenge will be that I've been having bad headaches three or four days a week for a long time. The doctors haven't been able to help yet.

Will you please pray for me?
  • That I'll comprehend and grasp all the details of the position
  • That I'll have the energy and ability to fulfill my duties at work and home
  • That headaches will not interfere with my ability to focus and be pleasant

Please be patient with me as I learn to balance all the areas of my life including this blog. I do not want to let any part of my creativity go. I'm not sure how I'll do it all, but I choose the abundant life. That means husband, family, friends, work, creative outlets like writing and learning, hospitality, and most importantly, growing closer and closer to God.

This is a new assignment. This is a new era of my life. This is the way that I shall serve Jesus until he moves me into a new era.

Don't give up on me if I don't write as much for awhile. Y'all are an important part of my life; and, many of you have been for a long while.

    Have a wonderful week!

    1. Hi Carol!
That's a marvelous idea! I think we should take advantage of opportunities like that. Let me know what course you choose. Thank you for encouraging me. I'm up to my eyeballs on day 3 of my 4 week training.

    1. Thank you for praying, Martha Jane. That means so much to me. I have spaghetti brain right now; but, I know I'll be able to learn it since God called me to it. ~smile~ Have a marvelous week! I'll stop by for a visit soon!

  4. Praying for you for all those things, Laura - I know you will do well...and before you know it many of the things will come second hand! God speed. I started a new part-time job last October - it keeps us snappy! I love using the Bible Recap too.

    1. Hello Carrie,
I hope we don't snap! ~smile~ I'm sure I must be building neuroplasticity! Or something! One of the doctors I work for is in his 80's. It keeps him sharp!
I'll be over a visit soon.
      Blessings,
      Laura

  5. Dear Lord, Our wonderful Healer, I lift up Laura to you and thank you for this precious sister in Christ. Oh, how exciting for the door you have opened for her. I pray that you will shower your healing on her headaches and I pray that you will guide her as she balances this new season and help her as she learns and navigates through all of this. Thank you, Lord, you have her in the palm of your hand. In Jesus Name, Amen.

  6. Laura, you are about to do exactly what I did last year at this time. After being at home for over 31 years, I got a job at the library down the road. I lasted 10 months and had to come back home. You and I are the same age and yes, we can still learn new things :) You're going to do great! The biggest challenge for me was still having to cook after a long day. We ended up eating fast food a lot and I just never could get that under control. In the end, I just wanted to be back home, but I was proud of myself for trying and learning something new.

    1. Thank you so much, Barb. It's challenging, but I can tell that my coworkers are going to be a fun bunch. That makes a big difference. We're encouraged to pray, and show the love of Jesus (my words). They really do say Jesus! It's in a pediatric clinic associated with a Catholic hospital. When I can through training, I think I'll like it.
Thank you for praying for me!

  8. Congrats on your new position! I admire you learning new things and taking on new challenges. I need to do that more often. I try but give up too easily...and blame my age. Sad. I hope you really enjoy your new job and that God will use you in a special way while you are there.

Thanks for writing me back!

This life only works with Jesus. The next life is a continuation of this one—make sure you spend it with Jesus. Jesus is the only way to God the Father!
