NOT JUST A BANANA

We've just come through several weeks of hard times.
Even after years of thrifty and frugal living,
God is still teaching me to trust him.
I wrote this just a few short weeks ago.
Things have improved for us greatly since then.

I just selected a banana to eat. In awe of God's goodness, I breathed, "Thank you God for this banana."  I have never felt so thankful for a banana!

I've been praying each day, "Give us this day our daily bread." I really meant it, too! God showed me abundance. A friend took me out to lunch then took me grocery shopping.

Two more friends brought more food before I could even put away the groceries. There was little overlap except eggs, oats, and bread.

My eldest son came over a few minutes later and picked me up to ride along to Walmart with him. He bought me vitamins I've been out of for months, eggnog, and whipped cream. Then my husband came home and bought us milk!

I think God had a very specific message for me yesterday.
I can trust him to care for us all the days of our lives. He is GOOD!

Still learning to trust,
Laura

  1. Oh- I am so sorry you have had such a hard time. People don't realize the toll cancer takes on a family-not only emotionally but the big financial cost, too. God bless you, my friend. I know that you believe God will take care of you and I believe He will, too...but it is not always easy to wait on the Lord when we are feeling a bit desperate. xo Diana

  4. There is so much financial hardship around the country, and it’s been going on since the 90s. While things have been improving over the past year, we all need to see it in our own communities:

  5. Many years ago, possibly 30 now, we were unemployed for several months. People just kept bringing us food until I had it stacked around the walls in the kitchen because the pantry was full. It was so amazing. I am blessed to hear of God's provision for your family, too. He is a good, good Father!

Today we are trusting Him for the right downsize, single story house for us. This has become a real pressing need in the middle of skyrocketing prices and less income than we have had in decades. But He knows and we are so thankful for that.

    Have a blessed week!

  6. The financing pressure of any long term illness can really hurt the bottom line and I don't think people have any idea unless they have been there. I am so happy you have such lovely friends close by to help you with those needs.

Such a wonderful example of how He cares for us and provides in times of trouble and despair. I love your unwavering faith and your willingness to share with all of us. You have such a beautiful soul.
    Keep up the faith,

  8. Dear Laura, your post has excited me. Indeed nobody realizes how terrible this disease is and the consequences it brings to the family.
But dear, now everything is going to end ... and God is always sending you blessings.
    A big hug

  10. You are in my prayers daily my friend and I totally agree with you that if you COMPLETELY trust in the Lord, HE DOES PROVIDE. The key to that is FAITH. Unfaltering and constant. THAT is what I am striving for, and the journey to do so is AMAZING!! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the inspiration and love you share, it truly plays a part in strengthening my walk with Jesus. May God continue to bless you as you heal, A gentle hug across the miles, Karla
