Happy Homemaker Monday ~ April 8, 2019

Hosted  by Diary of a Stay at Home Mom

As I write ...   Very early Monday morning.

The weather....  It was in the upper 70s on Sunday. It's supposed to be warm today, too.

Right now I am...   listening to the fan, water running, and the calm of late night/early morning.

Thinking...  God turned our life in a very definite direction last week in a matter of just an hour and a half.

A quote to share...

"If there's one thing I want you to take away from this study, it's that so much about living an abundant and fulfilling life has to do with your mindset and very little has to do with your circumstances."

On my reading pile...
  • Little Women
  • Invincible Louisa
  • Murder at the Courthouse

Favorite blog post last week...
  • It is Where We Are by Grandma Donna
  • Mini Bunnies and Bears, Two New Patterns by Little Cotton Rabbits
Something fun to share...

On my to do list...
  • Get ready for my Lowell's knee replacement surgery next Monday. Please pray! It's his first time in the hospital.
  • Prepping house for after surgery
  • Pack up games
  • Ironing
  • Put away winter dishes
  • Make a list of lists!
In the workbasket...
I finished the Helix Hat with the pom pom.
The Alaska Hat is still a work in progress.
  • Looking forward to this week...
  • Meeting with my Trim Healthy Mama coach for the first time

Looking around the house...

I've got a pile of games sitting on my buffet. I had the kids (17, 18, 19, 21, 28) pull them all out and we decided what to keep and what to give. I need to pack them up by Tuesday.

From the camera...

I look forward to peonies blossoming again!

Devotional...
On my prayer list...
  • My joint and bone pain to stop. It's a side effect from the medicine that is supposed to keep cancer from coming back.
  • A stop to the madness of the invasion on our southern border.
  • Peace of Jerusalem and Israel
  • Wisdom, health, and protection for President Trump, Vice-President Pence, and their families.
  • Healing for our country so that we may be ONE nation under God.
My prayer for you, my reader...

Jesus,
These ladies carry many types of burdens and responsibilities. Please help them to organize, prioritize, and get the important things done first whatever they may be. Give them strength and desire to work in their homes and yard.  I ask it all by the power of the Blood of Jesus, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Thanks for dropping by. Please say hello.

  1. Hello!
I will pray for the surgery and for recovery afterward.
I am not sure if this is a planned surgery or not, but hope things are ok!
    Thank you for always inspiring.
    Hugs!

  2. What is a trim healthy mama coach? I am familiar with THM cookbooks and such, I've just never heard of a coach.

    1. It's a new program that Trim Healthy Mama set up. You can get one-on-one coaching from a trained person. Check it out at trimhealthymama.com

  3. Your husband will do great and will say in just a few months it was one of the best thing he has ever done. I had bilateral total knee replacements on one day ~ took me a little longer to recuperate with no good leg to stand on, but so worth it. He MUST do the physical therapy as prescribed as that is the only way. Must work through the pain. May I ask what anti cancer med you are on? I am on Tamixfen and it does bother my knees, but heck if it keeps the cancer away I can put up with some stiffness and minor knee discomfort. Lifting you and your husband up for good health and many blessings. Teddie

    1. Hi Teddie,
Thank you for the advice about my husband's knee. We've been hearing the same thing over and over about the PT.

I am on the generic form of Arimidex. I'll just keep on keeping on as long as I can. It makes me move like I'm twenty years older though.
      Blessings,
      Laura

  5. We got the same little burst of Spring, Laura. I hear that it's only through Wed., but it sure did wonders for my mood and energy! (And allergies, but we'll ignore that part!!)

I'll add to the advice about the PT for the knee replacement. My mother in law had both of hers done and for an 80 yr. old (this was nearly 20 yrs. ago), she had the quickest recovery. Two of her daughters were relentless in getting her moving! One was a nurse and the other a personal trainer. The doc said he'd never seen anyone her age heal so quickly and credited the daughters. My MIL couldn't believe she could go upstairs again! She hadn't been on her 2nd floor in over a decade. She's 97 now and those knees are still good.

Enjoy that line dancing class! And don't be discouraged by a little soreness the next day! I swear that dancing and gardening find muscles that we don't use very often! In my 20's, I was very active (& thin) and I went with my friend to her JCC (Jewish Comm. Center) for Jewish Folk Dancing. Nobody was less than 40 yrs. older than we were, but we just had a ball. But, after that first session, I woke up the next morning and nearly shrieked from muscle pain. I limped all day! I bet my legs were never stronger than they were during that time.

    1. Hi Debby,
Our little burst of spring seems to be quenched by chilly weather, but it's nice to see all the color outside again. What encouraging words about your m-i-l. Thank you for sharing that. I know my Lowell is anxious to be up and around again. Thanks for the encouragement about the dancing. It seems to take two days to recover, but if I sit just sit down, I won't ever be able to do it.
      Blessings,
      Laura

WOW, you have a lot going on. I was just out at Abe's in December (they live in Tinytown, NE now) when he had ankle surgery and crutches make life difficult that is for sure. Will pray for grace for you and a quick healing for Lowell. ;) Enjoy your spring in Missouri! The second best season next to Fall in Missouri! Miss you!

Yep, hot, hotter and super hot! No, really, it got down to the upper 20s this winter, but for the most part, there is not much change, pretty much just hurricane season and non hurricane season!I miss Fall but after going to Nebraska a couple times in winter, I can't say that I miss that so much!
