Have You Finished Your Thanksgiving Planning Yet?
Hello everyone,
I'm still recovering from surgery, so last night we had a planning meeting with the whole family and agreed on who would make and bring what for dinner. I am responsible for making pecan pies. My husband agreed to make my pie crusts for me Wednesday morning.
I just finished my final grocery list for Thanksgiving. My daughters are going to shop at Aldi, Dollar General, and Walmart for the ingredients that we still need. That will be a major energy saver for me. My job this year is to plan and coordinate kitchen work. I'll help with dishes, too, along the way. We are keeping everything simple.
Have you finished your planning? Your cooking? Is your turkey in the fridge thawing? Here's some help if you need it. Don't be afraid to ask others to bring items to contribute.
I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving, whether you're with loved ones, friends, acquaintances, or even by yourself, there is always something to be thankful for.
God bless you all! I'll write after the holiday.

good ideas. We have ordered most of our Thanksgiving dinner. My husband wanted to do it that way. He usually cooks almost all of our Thanksgiving dinner including the turkey, but this year, we are just going to pick it up. He will still bake pumpkin pies - the best I have ever had. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteHello Deb, I think that will be a wonderful way to have Thanksgiving dinner. Is it just the two of you this year? My daughter, Amy, is our pumpkin pie baker. She's already made a few for different events, so I think the family has had our fill of pumpkin for November. We may do another next month. ~smile~ Pecan was unanimously requested this year. I use a recipe from an old Southern Living recipe book. Be blessed dearie! Laura of Harvest Lane Cottage

Rest too!!!
I hope you have a wonderful day Billie Jo. It's a lot easier once some of the kids get old enough to help, doesn't it?I love the way you embrace and enjoy life. It's one of my favorite things about you.Hugs,Laura

DeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteYes! I have all of my Thanksgiving plans in order. : ) My family is coming to our home for Thanksgiving this year. I always enjoyed Thanksgiving at home, preparing with my mom and two sisters.
I hope you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Sarah
Oh Sarah, that sounds wonderful good. I miss my mama at this time of year. I enjoyed making Thanksgiving and Christmas with her so much. Enjoy!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and your family. I love that you have divided up all the cooking to spare you. We have been working on our list for the last week. I had to regroup at the grocery store yesterday because of the romaine recall but we made an easy substitute and are on track. Tomorrow is the big cooking day and Hubby and I will work together to get it all prepared while our kids travel from out of state.
ReplyDeleteI will be doing all of the work this year. We will go to my daughters on Saturday for a meal that I can enjoy. I am thrilled that my husband found pumpkin pies on sale last night and purchased two of them so that is less I have to do. I still have to make a banana pie for him.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving and I hope that your recovery goes great.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Glad you are able to be home and be involved with the meal planning and baking. Praying for you! Love, Glaphre
