A Refreshing Afternoon at Morris Patch of Heaven Homestead

Oh what a refreshing afternoon I had! I visited my dear friend Joyce of Morris Patch of Heaven Homestead. We've been friends for years and have raised our kids together. Our visit was punctuated with her wonderful young children bringing adorable baby animals right into the house for viewing and enjoying. New life is always such a joy. Bottle lambs bring back memories.

I met Joyce through a homeschool group that met in a little house, at the other end of my block, that was owned by a local church. We enjoyed many years of mom meetings, homeschool field trips, pray and plays, park days and activities together. For a few years, we also had the pleasure of being church members together and participating in home groups that our children were welcome to attend. Ah, good memories.

While we were together this afternoon, the first since the distancing order, I felt refreshed by talking with my dear friend. We are kindred spirits, and it has been wonderful to talk over all that is going on and our personal and family responses to it.

We also talked of homemaking things and homesteading things as we always do. One of the things we agreed is that we need to make soap together again soon. Last time, she made it for her YouTube channel. She made an easy goat milk soap. I want to share that video with you here and ask you to give her some comment love and subscribe if you like what you see.

As usual, I always love to receive your comments here as well. How are you holding up these days?
Any great make do ideas to share? Any prayer requests? I'd love to hear from you. Please make sure to leave your email address if it's not part of your Google account or hit follow so that I can respond.

I hope y'all have a wonderful evening, morning, or day!

2020 is still the year of optimism!
Blessings,
Laura of Harvest Lane Cottage

    1. Thanks so much Carol. I'm doing what I've got with what I can where I am. Optimism is a blessing the LORD has given me as a result of the troubles I've had in my life and seeing HIM bring us through.
      Hugs,
      Laura

  3. What a heartwarming post! I am going to check out your friend's youtube video. Reading this made me want to get my soapmaking supplies out and make a new batch. I haven't done that in a while. I will probably need to purchase some lye before I can do it, though. Thank you for sharing about your special visit and the picture of you and your friends. Are you missing homeschooling as much as I am? Man, it just feels like those years flew by like a blur, and it is really strange knowing they are over. It is quite an adjustment in the aftermath, but we know God has us in the palm of His hands, as He always has. Love and hugs to you today, sweet friend.

    1. I do miss homeschooling Cheryl. For so long, being a homeschooling mom was who I was. Then suddenly I was retired. No party, no watch, no retirement plan. ~smile~ I am working part-time now, but I know it's not my future. It's my here and now. It's helping take the edge off of things right now and allowing me to pay some bills off and get a few things we need. At some point, I will come back home full-time and be Lowell's wife (34th anniversary today), help him with his business, and do something with my blog or another endeavor from home. God will provide.Blessings and sharing the joy with you,Laura

AWWWWW, I love this! Soo good to see you and Joyce and Julinda even if it is not a current photo! I thought I was going to have to learn to make soap a month ago when Sam's was out, but they got it stocked in time! WHEW! I miss you guys! Those homeschool days were LONG at times, but now it seems like they went by so fast!

    Take care, my friend!
