Welcome to another thrifty week at Harvest Lane Cottage. I'm so glad you've found me! Each week I share my thrifty and frugal projects, ways of saving money, and my blessings from God.

I am so glad you dropped in for a visit today—or tonight!

Dear Reader,

Hello ladies! Spring is in full swing now. My husband has our little garden patch all tilled up and a few seedlings are awaiting planting. Most of the plants will be from seed this year.

I want to remind you that spring time is the perfect time to watch sales to prepare for gift giving. You can watch for new and next to new items at garage sales and thrift stores—all with thoughts toward Christmas and other gift giving occasions. Think ahead mama! Even with the tiniest of budgets, you can make things nice for your family if you start early. God provides in so many ways when we keep our eyes, ears, and hearts open.

God's ways are higher than our ways!

I am feeling much better now. I see the surgeon April 15th. I think he will be pleased with my healing.  I thank you all so much for praying for me.

Perhaps you are going through a time of illness, recovery, or low energy for another reason. There are going to be times in our lives when we are not able to do as much, but if we do our best when we are able, we will have habits that will carry us through hard times.

A Verse for You

"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:19

I think Philippians 4 is one of my absolute favorite chapters.
I've seen God's provision in so many ways over the years.

Here's my thrifty week!

  • Gifts and surprises! Thank you Laura! I love the yarn and needles. I cannot wait to cast my first sock on with the wooden needles. I've not used Knitter's Pride needles before, and I look forward to trying them out.
  • I'm knitting socks using leftover yarn in shades of blue, gray, and purple. They're crazy, but fun! I'll share a photo later this week.
  • I was notified that I've been accepted to receive a free review copy of Roseanna M. White's book Nature of a Lady. It's the first book in The Secrets of the Isles Series.

  • I'll also be receiving Dusk's Darkest Shores by Carolyn Miller for review. My mailbox ought to be busy soon!
  • More real estate investment and donation! The more we get rid of, the more spacious our homes will be. We dropped off several Walmart bags and a box of miscellaneous to the thrift store. You'll be glad to know I didn't spend a cent!
  • Biggest declutter victory was selling our son's Ford Explorer! We got back back our driveway!
  • I stayed home a lot, therefore I used less gas.
  • We ate primarily from the freezer and what we had on hand.
  • Apple crisp using some wimpy apples that had been forgotten and some crispy topping that I had in the freezer. I've made this for my husband since before we were married. I boarded with a couple in our church for awhile in college. This was Evie's recipe. Thank you Evie!

That's my thrifty week.
What are you doing in your home this week?

  1. We have a jar that we save coins in, it is surprising how quickly it grows and we always get quite a substantial amount for treats at Christmas.

    1. Good for you Mama! I remember my dad gave me his change jar when I got married. I didn't think much of it until I dumped it out and it had over $60 in it! It came in handy at grocery time!

    1. Thank you Michelle. I don't feel like I've done much of anything since I went through the last couple of surgeries. I am feeling better now, and I'm trying to more.

Lately, I've been helping my husband sort some papers, and I have been going through things to declutter and organize

Thank you so much for "talking back" to me!

I read all comments and appreciate them.
Please make sure I have your email if you want me to respond or pray for you.

God bless you! This life only works with Jesus. The next life is a continuation of this one—make sure you spend it with Jesus. Jesus is the only way to God the Father!
