Have you ever seen a children's book and just known you would like it? That's how I felt before I even opened I LOVE MY GRANDMA A Celebration of Grandmothers by written by Kelly Reddin and illustrated by Sommer J. Buyante. The cover and the name just felt so attractive to me. I was drawn to it.
I'm Grammy to my little one year old grandson, B. Oh, the things we'll do as he grows! This book shares so many wonderful names for grandmas and so many wonderful things that grandmas do with their grandchildren. It's full of great ideas if you're looking. ~wink~ I'll be implementing some.
What I love about Kelly Reddin's book is that it's just filled with the love of family. It shows how grandmas can be very different from each other, but just perfect for their own grandchildren. It highlights the wonderful things that children can learn from their Oma, Nonna, Grandma, Lola, Gram....
The illustractions fit the feel of this book perfectly. Sommer J. Buyante brought meaning and life to the text. The colors and scenes are calm and relaxing. I know inclusivity is important these days. There are all kinds of grandmas in this book. They're all wonderful.
When you read this book, I believe that you're just going to feel good. I did.

I remember friends telling me how wonderful it would be. It's surpassed what I expected!
DeleteThis looks like a great book and teaches the value and worth of age. Certainly much preferable to some of the trash out there like my two dads or my family full of trannies, just to name a couple.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteWhat a heartwarming review! 💕 The book sounds like a perfect celebration of the special bond between grandmas and their grandkids. I love how it highlights the unique, yet equally wonderful, ways grandmas love and teach. Definitely adding this one to the list for some future reading with B!
ReplyDeleteThat's one thing I really liked, too. My two grandmas couldn't have been more different!
