Happy First Day of Fall!

Hello ladies!

Happy Fall y'all. Just had to say it!

It's been hot here in Southwest Missouri for a bit over a week. We had a little preview of lovely weather. But. Well. Missouri. I have hope for the future though! I may not get any fall weather today, but I'm going to seize the day for all it's worth!

I'm so excited for this first day of Fall. It feels like summer, but I am going to burn a pumpkin candle, drink a cup of tea, close my eyes and make believe!

Be blessed!

Thrilled to be in what
I believe to be the most
wonderful time of the year!

First Day of Fall

Oh my goodness, how I am enjoying this first morning of fall. I'm sitting out here on my porch. I have the privilege of having today off from work. I'll be working later during the week, but right now I'm enjoying time alone. I'm listening to birds and a rooster that moved in down the street is celebrating the morning. It's just beautiful.

The temperature is cool and crisp without being too cold. I actually need a sweater. It's delightful to feel chilly.

Fall as absolutely my favorite time of year. It's more of a new beginning than January. I suppose that's because of starting a new school year, looking forward to the holidays and then the winter.

Summer always seems like a bit of a winding down time for me; perhaps it's because the heat bothers me more than it used to.

I don't have any big plans for today.  I do have my brother-in-law visiting. That's why I don't have work today. I'll spend some time with him.

Presently, I'm enjoying a pumpkin spice Chai latte this morning on the front porch.

Ideally, I'd be going to a coffee shop with a friend this afternoon at 1:19 when we officially change to fall from summer; but, with company, I decided I'd better not.

This is very rambly, but I wanted to speak to you guys this morning and wish you a happy first day of fall.

God bless you.

My First YouTube Video

Hey y'all!

I just uploaded my first YouTube video. Is it polished? No. Is it edited? No. Is it from my heart?  Yes, it is.

I've been thinking about doing this for quite awhile. After Charlie's death, I realized that the time is now.

I'm not exactly sure what the channel will look like.

What I do know is that you're going to get the real me just like you do here on the blog. I expect it will probably cover some of the same topics. What I do know is that I will be sharing my faith in Jesus Christ and offering to pray for people.

****

I invite you to watch it on YouTube; then, if you like what you hear, please like it and maybe share it.

If you want to hear more, please subscribe.

I'm figuring this out as I go. One thing I haven't figured out yet is how to embed this from my phone.

Will you please go to YouTube and watch it here

Thank you all for all the love and kindness you've shown me through the years.

Hugs!

Laura

She Saved Everything!

My Grandma Bern grew up in the depression.

She saved e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g!

She put cookies in a saved ice cream container. She kept them in what we called "the cold room". It was my Uncle Ed's bedroom. It was a very small room off the dining room. I don't think it was heated. My brother and I used to sneak in there and get a cookie now and then. Grandma didn't like us to have treats between meals. That's a rule I should have kept with!

She saved margarine containers, milk cartons, and any other thing she could pack food in and freeze or put in the refrigerator. She canned a lot of food and had a very large garden.

She kept years of magazines stacked against the wall in one of the bedrooms. That was fun for us as kids. We'd spend time thumbing through them when we visited.

Sometimes, when we've been through hard times, we even save things we don't need to save. I've been guilty of that. I still am, I suppose. I still have "clutter" to "declutter". But, not saving is not always bad. Sometimes, I find that I have saved just the thing I need to work on a project or to fix something. The key is keeping it organized so that I can find it.

Warm regards,
Laura

Laura Lately ~ September Making

I tried a new roll recipe today. It made a lot.
My Lowell took some to the neighbors for me.

This is a garland I received recently for review.
I am a Vine reviewer for Amazon.
This is my first fall decoration.
I didn't make it, but it did make my dining room look more like autumn.

This is the first sock for the Monster Knit Along.

That little bag will be in my Etsy shop when I open it.

This will be a key fob when I'm done.

No, that's not for a mummy!
I'm going to use it for rug making.

I started BSF, Bible Study Fellowship, on the 8th.
It's my first time to study with this group of believers.

I hope to make new friends and grow closer to Father God.

That is about it for now.

God bless you!

The Thrifty Kitchen

Hey y'all!
I'd like to invite  you to The Thrifty Kitchen. It's a new Skool group where we can share thrifty recipes and learn ways to stretch a dollar until it squeals like a piggy in a greased pig contest!

My husband's been thinking about doing something like this for years. We recently found that we can offer this membership group for free on Skool.

We want this to be a place where we can all learn and become a real community. If you think this might be your vibe, come check us out! We're just getting started, so we are adding new things regularly.

If you come from here at Harvest Lane Cottage, please tell us.  We'd really like to know!

Remember— This is free. No charge. We just want to help each other get through these trying grocery store times. ~smile~

I hope to see you there!

Here's the link to join.

Happy week ending!

Please Pray for Ellen

My friend, Ellen, has cancer again. It's not treating her well. She needs a miracle from God.

Thank you for praying.

Gift Ideas for the Men in Your Life It's Birthday Season at Harvest Lane Cottage!

Three out of four of my adult children have birthdays in August and September. We are right in the middle of birthday season here at Harvest Lane Cottage! In fact, my new grandbaby was also born in August!

I shared some ideas here for the ladies on your gift list for birthdays, Christmas, or I Love You Days. Here are some ideas to help you with your gift giving for the men in your life. Frankly, I took many of these ideas directly from my sons' and my husband's wish lists.

I hope this gives you an idea or two. The guys are always the hardest for me!

Happy gift giving!
