I Thank God... Day 22


I thank God for my church family. I've attended several churches since I was saved. This is the first church in which I have been part of such a close-knit, living life together group. It's small. It's relatively new, only a little over a year old. We meet in the YMCA building. Most of the parents of school age kids teach their children at home. There's an understanding and kindred spirit feeling here that I've never had anywhere else before.

Is it perfect? No. Am I perfect? No. I'm just thankful for the time God is giving us in this body of believers. It's so much easier taking the hard way with companions in The Faith. Jesus Christ, The Living Word, is the focus of this body. I thank God for this privilege.

Hello my dear readers and friends, You've no doubt noticed a change in my blog over the last few weeks and seen hints of health troubles and tests. This is the post I've been avoiding. My Spicy Can Opener Soup was published in Gooseberry Patch Hometown Christmas!

Just had to share this with you again.   My recipe was published in Gooseberry Patch Hometown Christmas! I have to admit, I was truly surprised when I received a letter from Gooseberry Patch requesting permission to use my recipe in their newest Christmas cookbook.  I've sent in some more complicated recipes, but this one is easy peasy! It's truly a recipe that I threw together using items from my nearly bare kitchen cupboards last winter. I called it Spicy Can Opener Soup.  They changed the name, but the ingredients remain the same.   I was thrilled to receive my very own copy of the book .  Of course, I had to make it up and take some photos to share with you dear ladies. Just Who is Laura of Harvest Lane Cottage?

I'm a big city girl gone small town girl gone country and finally gone back to small town. I live in southern Missouri between Oz and the Ozarks.  I have four children. My daughters live at home. My twenty-four year old daughter is finishing her master's degree through online university, and my 20 year old daughter goes to Christian college. My sons live on their own nearby. The 22 year old son and my 31 year old sons live nearby. I homeschooled all of my children from the beginning through high school. My eldest son went to high school for a year and a half.
