Anxiety, Depression, and Saturation in God's Word

A bit ago I wrote about my experience with anxiety and depression.  I wrote this in response to one of the comments I received.

God is indeed the answer.  You know, just this instant I realized something.  Since January 2012, I have been reading and listening to the Bible a lot.  By listening*, I can saturate myself with God's Word even while I am doing things around the house.  I believe that has been part of my healing.

I am more aware of how my sin separated me from God.

I am more aware of how the love of Jesus, the Son of God, kept Him on the cross in punishment for my sins.

I am more aware of how His resurrection cancelled my debt of sin and washed me clean simply because I accepted and received God's forgiveness.

I am more aware of my need to give my life completely to God, and seek Him.

I am more aware that it's all grace not perfection.

I am more aware that it's all about Jesus, about God, about the Holy Spirit.

I am more in love with Jesus.

Draw close to God. He will draw close to you. His love for you is everlasting.  Jesus is deeply in love with you. Will you fall more deeply in love with Jesus?

Goodness, I've got my preach on this morning. ~smile~
But, you know, when it comes down to it, only one thing is important.
What will our relationship be with Jesus Christ?

Blessings to you!

  3. God's Word truly "renews the mind" even when it keeps misbehaving as I frequently find mine doing!

i don't know how people live without Jesus to help them through, actually...

  4. Hi Julia,

Yes, I know what you mean about misbehaving. Sometimes mine just takes off. I'm learning to rein it in when it does. Sometimes it's hard. God's word is helping tremendously.

    Blessings,

  5. Hi Laura! I am coming to you from A Little R and R.

I liked the way you said it's grace and not perfection. I also can get down on myself sometimes, and it's because I don't feel good enough. But! I have Christ in me and that makes me so happy, and I remember that I am just fine :)

    So nice to meet you!

  6. Hi Ceil,

I am so glad you've grasped the significance of having Christ in you and of grace. Our decision about Christ and what we believe about His work in our lives through the Holy Spirit is of the utmost importance. I'll be over for a visit in just a little bit.

    Blessings to you!

  7. Hello Laura! I loved this! It's such a good reminder that God's Love for us is so strong that he will carry us when we are weak! I have to stop through out the day and pray and soak in his Word and talk with him, because I don't want to be missing out in something that he has planned for me. He's always talking and I think so many people would be excited for what he has, but they turn a deaf ear. I think we all need to wake up, stop hitting the snooze button and really listen to what He's saying!

    Thanks for sharing!

    Have a wonderful week.
    Blessings,
    Amy

  8. Hi Amy,
I think that sometimes we just don't recognize that still small voice. We receive so much input from media, for instance, that it's hard to hear that voice if we don't get away from it sometimes.

    It's worth the effort.

I'll be over for a visit in just a bit.

    Blessings,
    Laura

  9. Hello Laura,

I agree with you completely! I have found that speaking God's Word out loud and listening to audio bibles is the only way that helps me in difficult times.

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful truth with blogland. xxx

  10. Hi Tina,

God's Word is really alive and sharper than a two edged sword. It really can cut through depression and anxiety. It took a long time for me, but it's happening. I've come so far. May God bless you with the mind of Christ.

    Sincerely,
    Laura

  11. Hi Stephanie,

There is definitely something to be said for the "washing of the Word". I've been through the Bible over and over the last year and a half. It's truly changing my life.

I'll be over for a visit to your blog in just a bit.

    Blessings to you,

    Laura

Thank you so much for "talking back" to me!

I read all comments and appreciate them.
