Want to Knit Some Mittens for Your Little Kittens for Christmas?

KnitPicks Swish Worsted
Want to be knitting mittens for your little kittens for Christmas?  I learned to knit mittens a couple of years by watching a series of video tutorials from Knit Picks. I loved it, because I could stop the videos, back up and have Kelley explain it as many times as I needed.

Kelley's instructions are easy to understand.  I loved having her help me step-by-step beginning to end.  My kids loved their mittens.  They've grown and need bigger mittens this year!

Wool mittens are so very warm.  Give it a try.  If you can knit and purl, you can do this.  I buy my supplies at Knit Picks.  I like their yarns and prices.  Their customer service is good, too, if you have a problem.  I feel so silly having to write "I am an affiliate or I am not an affiliate"; but, for Mr. Government Man, I am not an affiliate. :)

I need to order some washable wool and get busy if I'm going to be Knitting Mittens for Kittens this Christmas this year.  ~smile~

  2. Hi Cheryl,
I have been crocheting a zillion (it seems) dishcloths. Someone gave me a lot of dishcloth cotton, and I'm trying to use it up! I'm hoping to buy some yarn and get started on a pair of mittens for one of my kittens.

I have to tell you, you've totally blessed me with your comment. I want this blog to be a place of peace, warmth, and encouragement. Thank you so much for telling me.

Do you have a blog? I'd love to come by.

    Blessings to you sweet lady!

  5. Hi Dorothy,

We're listening to the story of the three little pigs by John Branyan.
He rewrote it using Shakespearean language.
Here's the link to the video:

  7. Oh my, what a fun idea. Now, could you crochet mittens too? I don't know how to knit just yet, since I just learned how to crochet. My dishcloths are coming along nicely. I do want to try my hand at a scarf next. Do you have any good websites or patterns that you use for those?

I love your blog and all your neat and creative ideas. Thanks so much for posting. I feel so inspired when I visit you. :)

    Have a great day!

  8. Hi Amy,

I suggest you check into Ravelry.com. It is a free site for knitters and crocheters. It has lots of patterns many of which are free. They are rated from simple to difficult. You have to create a free account to view the site. You can keep track of your projects, share photos of completed projects and queue up the projects you'd like to do in the future.

Take a look, I think you'll like it. You may even find some patterns and ideas for Christmas gifts. I'll be over in just a bit to visit your wonderful blog.

    Blessings,
    Laura

  10. Hi Annie,
I think you tube videos are the best for learning. You can rewind and rewind and rewind as needed.

Check out the Knit Picks website. They have lots of free tutorials. I've used several of them to learn new things.

  18. Hi Nancy,
I've got a quilt in the frame right now. My husband's grandma made the top. I'm hand quilting it. Do you hand or machine quilt?
    Blessings,
    Laura

  19. Hi Marci,

I haven't ordered yarn yet. I may wait until after Christmas. Time is passing so quickly! I put a quilt in the frame last week, and I'm hand quilting it a few minutes here and a few minutes there.

    Have a wonderful weekend.

    Laura

P.S. Did you get back to Sandstone?

  21. Hi Jann,
If you don't have someone to teach you, try the Knit Picks videos. Even this novice knitter was able to do it.
    Blessings,

  22. Hello Laura, I just wanted to thank you for joining in on my apron giveaway. I will be drawing the winner soon. I hope you win!
I may just have to sew you you one anyway:) I am planning on doing a lot of sewing this week, as our men are off elk hunting.
Thanks for always leaving me such sweet and wonderful comments!
    I always enjoy reading them.
    Blessings and a Hug, Rox

  23. Hi Rox,

Elk hunting! Imagine that. Do you live where the elk are or do they travel somewhere? I once read about a woman shooting an elk from her bedroom window while standing there in her nightgown and slippers.

I'm not familiar with Elk. Is it similar in flavor to deer?

I'd love an apron! No pressure. ~giggle~

I'm coming for a visit in just a bit.

    Have a terrific week,
    Laura

  27. Hi Kim!

I'm glad this was timely for you. Scarves can become tiring since they're such a long project. Pun intended.

Do check out Ravelry.com for ideas as well. Registry is free and they have tons of free projects.

If you do, you can see what I've done by looking for harvestlanelaura.

    It's free.

    Blessings,

  34. I've done a lot of socks, but not a lot of mittens. I think it's that thumb that stops me, although I know it's not insurmountable. And then I think, "If I can knit mittens, I should knit gloves," and the thought of thumbs AND fingers paralyzes me.

    Aren't we silly? I think it's time to knit some mittens . . .

    ReplyDelete
  35. I was surprised, Carolyn, the thumbs weren't actually that hard.
