My Daybook ~ September 6, 2015

Read other daybooks.
 My Daybook
September 6, 2015

Outside my window... It's dark and sultry.

I am thinking... about how to make life more fun.

I am thankful that... my sons, 24 and 16 are growing to be good friends.

From the kitchen... I want to try some new recipes.

I am wearing... my black dress. I wore my oatmeal tan sweater over it this morning in church. I get chilly in church. I thank God that they have good air conditioning!

I am creating... Oh, I'm embarrassed to say that I still need to hem my new dress. I'm nearly finished after all these weeks!

I am going... to sort through clutter this week. I think we're going to try to do a yard sale later this month. Any advice?

Cover: America the Strong
I am reading... I have started America the Strong and 52 Lessons from A Christmas Carol.

I am hoping... to get lots of laundry and other chores done today.

I am hearing... the air conditioner. Everything else is silent.

Around the house... we need to clean to get ready for company visiting next weekend.

One of my favorite things...  homemade pecan pie.

From the Board Room...
Follow Laura's board Pie! on Pinterest.

A Few Plans for the Rest of the Week... work, school records and plans, hem my dress, catch up laundry, and preparing for my daughter's 18th birthday. I need to find a terrific gift for her.

My Picture Thought....

Now go check out the other Day Book entries at our hostess Peggy's blog, The Simple Woman.

What are you up to this week?

God bless!
Laura

ps I am painting an old table [turned into computer desk] today.. I put a whole chicken on the smoker this am, and put some pinto beans in the crockpot..so supper is cooking, while I paint, and do laundry.

  5. Oh, pecan pie! My husband doesn't like it (thinks its too sweet) so I don't make them often. Maybe this year for Thanksgiving I'll add one to the menu, even if no one else likes it, lol...
Hope you have a wonderful week!

  7. Sounds like a productive day Judy. I've had a chicken with my head cut off day today. I just cannot seem to focus. I finally just sat down with tea, my Bible, My Utmost for His Highest, and read and prayed. Sometimes I get scatter brained and just have to stop. ~smile~

  9. Sounds like the perfect day to me! We got home yesterday from our 6 day trip away. It was so much fun and relaxing! But now I'm home and I have a ton of laundry to do, trying to get in the swing of things, reviewing some school work with my little ones and doing some baking. And now I think I need to make a pecan pie...my mouth is watering...yum!

Enjoy the rest of your week!
    Hugs to you, Amy :)

  10. Sounds like the perfect day to me! So glad to hear your dress is almost done, yay! What a great accomplishment. I love pecan pie! Yum! I think I need to make one now.
We've been gone for a 6 day getaway to the mountains and got back yesterday. I have a ton of laundry to catch up on now, trying to review some math and reading with my 2 little guys, cleaning and organizing their school stuff, needing to bake and planning for meals for the rest of the week. You know it's hard to get back in the swing of things after you've been gone for so long. One day at a time! :)

I hope you are enjoying your week, Laura!
    Hugs, Amy

  11. Hi Amy,
All this talk of pecan pie makes me want to have one, too. I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation. Someday I'd like to take a vacation with our family. They're all getting so old now, 14, 16, almost 18, and 24!

  13. Hello All is Amazing,
    What an awesome name!
My momma always told me pecan pie is hard to make.
I found it to be almost as easy as pumpkin!
    Blessings,
    Laura

  15. Hi Laura, I have two favorite pies, coconut cream and pecan! My mom made the most delicious pecan pie. Her crust would just flake in your mouth. I hear that I am running a close 2nd. :) Best of luck with your yard sale. My only suggestion is that instead of spending all that time pricing. Just do tables of $1, $5, $10, etc. or just name the price as they show it to you. I felt like that doing this we still sold tons and it was a lot less work. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann

  16. I love those pies Jann. I'd love to have your crust recipe and any tips. My crust isn't the best.

I've a lot to do to get ready for the sale by Friday. I may back out ~smile~.
