My Daybook ~ June 6, 2016

Join us at The Simple Woman!
Dear Ladies,

Hello!
It's Monday again. A new week with so many possibilities. My daughter, Amy, just bought a new camera. I'm sure there will be some photo shoots of various people and items this week. Maybe I'll even have her make a new portrait of me. ~smile~ Thanks for dropping by! May God grant you the desires of your heart as you delight in Him.
God bless you!
Laura

For Today... June 6, 2016

Outside my window... It's sunny and warm. The trees make a pretty pattern of shade in the circle drive.
You can see a bit of our circle drive behind Emily.

I am thinking... about my daughter, Emily's, homeschool graduation on Sunday.

I am thankful... that I stayed the course to complete the homeschool journey with her.
Emily, Michael, and Amy 2010
I am wearing... a tan dress with roses and my black Crocs.

I am creating... hmmm... not really anything at the moment, but I hope to get my sewing machine out later this week and sew up something small...not sure what yet. Actually, I might make some baby bibs. I could add them to my gift box for baby showers. I like to make things ahead of time and save them for when I need them. I might use one this tutorial. I used to make baby bibs for all the baby showers. I like to re-purpose old, soft denim to make boy bibs.

I am going... to do a little grocery shopping and to pick up my son from church. He's helping our pastor to prepare for the Carmen concert on Thursday. Our family will volunteer at church on the concert night.

I am wondering... where the years went and what the coming years will bring.

I am reading... I just started the book of John this morning.

I am hoping... to finish everything up for this school year in the next week or so. Then I can think about next year. ~smile~ I also hope to get some things photographed to start selling online.
Amy with Marylou, the lady who helped her select her camera.
A favorite quote for today...
"Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you."  Nathaniel Hawthorne
A peek into one of my days... Amy's crochet class for 4 H.

One of my favorite things... Kittens!

From the Board Room... I've got lots of sewing project ideas pinned on Pinterest.

A Favorite Link...  How to Have a Strong Emotional Constitution from Roxy at Living from Glory to Glory. Roxy is  a true Titus 2 woman. She's encouraged me and challenged me many times.

Have a wonderful week!

  2. Laura, I always enjoy your Daybooks! It was such a treat to stop by today and see what you've been up to. How exciting to have a daughter graduating from Homeschool. Those years do indeed go by so fast! My youngest graduated 7 years ago already. Wow! But now I have a beautiful granddaughter and a whole new adventure!

I love the Nathaniel Hawthorne quote you shared! Very thought-provoking!

    Blessings,

  3. Congrats on surviving to graduation with your homeschooling! That is quite a feat today!

We did it all... public, private, and homeschooling. There were a lot of moves and crazy circumstances in there.

Found your post today on Modest Mom.
Hope you have a blessed day today!

    1. There were a lot of odd circumstances for us, too, including helping for 3 years with the Joplin tornado recovery and helping run my husband's restaurant for 2 years. God knows what our kids will need when they're grown. ~smile~

  4. Your daughter is beautiful! Congratulations to you all. Bibs are such a great gift for baby showers, and the fact that you make them yourself makes them all the more special and great quality. You have a lovely blog, Laura! Have a great week!

  9. Aww, your grey kitties are beautiful!! We had grey tabbies for many years, but since our last mama died, all we get are mostly orange ones.

    1. Hi Laughing Lady, the kitties are a friend's. I wish they were mine! We have an orange tabby male now. We had his sister, too, but she passed. Tiger is like butter in your hands friendly.

  13. HI Laura, I'm visiting from The Simple Woman's Daybook.

I am a retired homeschool mom. My youngest child graduated in 2010, bringing an end to a season of life I loved very much. I'm glad I stayed the course too.

So, as your daughter prepares to graduate, my I offer congratulations to you. Job well done!!

    1. Thank you, Patti. Emily is my second child, but the first I've homeschooled all the way through. I have two more coming up that will both be in high school this year. I cannot imagine how life will be when I finish. I've been home with children since 1991! The world's rather passed me by in some ways, but I'm glad in most ways. It's been so worth it.

I'll be over for a visit in just a bit!

      Blessings to you, too!
