Thoughts on Voting 2016 ~ I LOVE MY COUNTRY

Since I will be working as an election judge this year, I voted by absentee ballot early. There are more than a few folks who don't feel they want to vote this year given our choices for president.

Here's the thing.
I don't like Trump. I don't like Clinton.
BUT I LOVE MY COUNTRY.

I feel a moral obligation to vote. Where does that leave me as a Christian?

In order for my vote to actually count, I must vote for one or the other.

  • One, Mrs. Clinton, has clearly shown herself to be a proponent for everything that I find to be against God's laws. Her disregard for human life, for justice, for national security, and the Second Amendment among other things, are alarming. I cannot vote for her. We won't even discuss her lying, her disregard for the Constitution, and possible criminal actions.

  • On the other hand, Mr. Trump, while not a model citizen, has pledged to support the Constitution, the Second Amendment, Pro-Life, national security, etc. I don't expect he would be a perfect president. BUT I have a deeper concern.

The most important issue of this election, to me, is The Supreme Court.

Who is going to appoint judges who will uphold the Constitution and Bill of Rights in a manner consistent with the Founders' original intent?

  • I am absolutely certain that Hillary Clinton will not be that person.

  • I believe that Trump will appoint conservative judges who will do their best to uphold the Constitution. That is major for our country. The Constitution is the glue that holds us all together. It's what will protect our children, our grandchildren and future generations until the Lord returns—IF WE DON'T LET THE JUDGES LEGISLATE FROM THE BENCH!

One final issue—President Obama has made Executive Orders that bypass Congress. I believe that, following his example, Mrs. Clinton would do the same.

I do not believe that Mr. Trump would do that—unless there were a reason that fit in with the original intent of that privilege.

Well, that's how I see it. I want to commend my readers on being very kind and open about this. Mr. Trump has prayed the prayer for salvation. Whether he was serious or not will show itself in time. This I do know. I thank God Christ can change us. I am not who I was. Thank you God!

We all must pray, and please vote.

  4. I agree with everything you said. God can use anybody even someone that is not the most perfect Christian. I also believe that he is the only one that will stand up for Israel. We know that Hillary Clinton will not.

  5. Bless you for being brave enough to bring this issue up and say the things most of us are thinking. Anyone who has held a newborn child surely knows that God created that precious soul long before it took its first breathe. If for no other reason, I hope people will vote for the lives of our precious unborn babies.

    1. Me, too. I saw a photo of a stillborn 12 week old baby the other day. It looked just like a full term baby only tinier. We Christians must stand up and vote. It is our duty as well as our privilege.

  6. I absolutely agree with every, single thing you said. We have already went and voted early for Donald Trump. It sickens me when they zone in on his sins, because we have ALL sinned and come short of the glory of God. I believe with all my heart he is a changed man, just as all others who have trusted in the dear Lord for salvation. Thank God, He doesn't use our past against us. This election is SO vital and important, and it just burdens me that Christians will not stand behind the candidate who definitely aligns himself most closely with the Biblical beliefs we hold most closely to our hearts. I trust God will continue to deal with His people and motivate them to go vote, and may He open their eyes to see the gravity of this election and how much is riding on its outcome. Thank you for preaching truth here, dear sister. I love and appreciate you so much.

    1. Love you, too, Cheryl. You're right. I'm praying that God wakes up his people. There is a very obvious choice between good and evil here.

Praise God, that it is He who changes our hearts and makes us more like Him.
As a nation, we need to turn back to God and His ways.

    1. Thank you, Debbie, it was my pleasure. I've been praying for a third Great Awakening for our country. It's going to start with Christians examining our hearts and repenting of any sins we find, and seeking God and praying sincerely.
I hope we will be great friends Debbie!
      Sincerely,

  9. Hi Laura,
Long time reader who has never commented before. Like many others I agree with everything you have said here. You're correct there is a very obvious choice here between good & evil & those supreme court justices are so very important with this election. I'm 48 years old & had never been registered to vote until last month, this election was important enough to make me take that step. Although he is not perfect I'll proudly vote for Trump. Thank You for this post.

  10. Hello Old Friend,
I agree with you; he may be an arrogant person, but I have actually seen him change throughout this campaign. He has a good head for business and CAN comport himself in a civil manner when dealing with foreign governments. My biggest deciding factor is his stance on Pro-life.
I love you and miss you bunches. Give everyone a hug from me.

    1. The Pro-life is the major deal. It's a small step from killing a baby as it's born to killing it after it's born. It's a small step from killing a newborn to killing a toddler... and on it goes.
      Pray my friend, pray.
      Love ya dear friend!

  12. I agree Trump is the only answer since it can't be Clinton. Even though I was offended by some of his words, they are only words, but he will put the right people on the supreme court and value human life!
