After Christmas

It was a peaceful Christmas weekend.
I'd like to take it easy for a couple of days.
When you're a wife and mother, that's not easy.
My family seems to make more mess at Christmastime than most any other time of year.
~smile~

First there will be straightening and finding places for new things as well as a few returns to make. Then cleaning, homeschool planning, thrifty efforts and real estate investment must take center stage!
The New Year is coming!

God bless you all.
Thank you all for encouraging me relentlessly
during a very long and difficult 2016.
~smile~

I thank God He was there to help me through it all.
He will be there to help me through 2017, too, whatever it brings.

What about you?
Have you given your life to Jesus Christ?

"God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in struggle."
Psalm 46:1

He's proven Himself true over and over in my life.
Make Jesus Christ Lord of your life.

  2. Hello friend. I will take this week to do many of the things you mentioned. We start homeschooling again January 2nd. Although, I am not sure we ever really stop schooling. I am very thankful to have been found by Jesus and His glorious filling! I am so thankful. I love your blog. It is always so peaceful and hopeful. Life giving.

    1. I looked at some blogs last night that I hadn't looked at for awhile. Several of them just stopped without explanation. That really bothers me. I know one day I will stop writing this blog for one reason or another. I want to be sure that someone in my family writes a conclusion for me if necessary. I don't want to leave anyone hanging, wondering what happened, especially since it's been such a personal blog.

      Hugs to you!

  4. We had a wonderful two days, lots of good food, laughter, baby kisses, Mamaw up to her usual antics, a couple of late drives down in the misty foggy backroads, also so,e heavy duty sadness. A young man we have known for many years lost his quick less than two month battle with cancer. He was barely 30 years old, and left behind his young wife, and two little kids. He was ordained to preach, when he was about 21. The whole time he was taking treatments and in the hospital, he was witnessing to people. His family is devastated.

You know Laura, life is like that, happy and sad, joyous and heart breaking. We need to all just make the best of every day. It is a two sided coin, and every day, we don't know which side of the coin that will show face up. Thank the Lord, we have His hope, no more tears further on, and only good for us there.

On the home front today, I spent a bit of time cleaning out some old canned food I felt needed to go. It was nice just seeing those pretty clean jars sitting in the dish draianer. I need to clean up more of my cabinets, the colder days coming in January are a good time to reevaluate your real estate, like you said. Still enough left overs for another day, the joys of generous family members who contribute to the feast, smile.
Hope you have a great week.

    1. You've given me something to think about Annie. I shall pray for the young family. He's stepped not into their past but into their future.

I sent the rest of my reply to you in an email.

  5. That would be nice to rest, but you're right, since everyone's home at Christmas time there's more to do/make and more to clean up.

  6. What a wonderful blog! I must admit that I miss those homeschool days. I really liked Anne's comment above. Each moment is so special and I believe that God whats us to be compassionate, forgiving, and be joyful. Most of all set an example of love to everyone because we do not know their battles! Glad I decided to pop over from Wendi's blog! Lots of Blessings!

    1. So glad you did, Ginger Dawn. I'll be over to visit you soon.
You're so right about loving others. Jesus said we'd be known by our love for one another, but we need to love unbelievers to Jesus, too.

      Be blessed!

  7. Hi Laura,
So glad to hear you and your family enjoyed a peaceful and blessed Christmas.
My back went out a couple days before Christmas and I was ever so glad we had decided to join our church family for dinner this year. By the time I had finished preparing all I'd signed up to take, my back was screaming pain. Thus, I sent my Mr.B and the littles on without me. While I was soaking in some scalding hot water waiting for the pain medication to take effect, a blizzard started blowing in and our power went out. But all was O.K. and well as it provided a very quiet and calm environment while I was waiting for relief from the pain.
My back has realigned and now we are digging ourselves out from under all the snow drifts.
We pray you all enjoy an abundantly blessed 2017.
    Mrs.B

  9. I'm so glad you had a peaceful Christmas my friend. I took a few days off after Christmas to relax a bit and am now doing as you are trying to get things back in order. We too were blessed with many wonderful things and I am so thankful for the love, thought and time that went into them. And yes, I do know Jesus and am so thankful for that relationship that I share with HIM! :)

    1. Tomorrow is the day, Debbie. Our last Christmas party is tonight—one for my daughter and her friends. Tomorrow the tree and decorations come down. If things go my way, the smaller winter tree with snowflakes and snowmen will replace it!

      Be blessed,
      Laura

Thank you so much for "talking back" to me!

I read all comments and appreciate them.
Please make sure I have your email if you want me to respond or pray for you.

God bless you! This life only works with Jesus. The next life is a continuation of this one—make sure you spend it with Jesus. Jesus is the only way to God the Father!
