Are You in a Tough Spot?

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6

"Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors."
Matthew 6:11-12

"And my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:19

"Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
Romans 15:13

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy- meditate on these things."
Philippians 4:6-8

Are you in a tough spot? Bills due? Too much month left when your paycheck's gone? Feeling fearful? Blessed are those who put their hope in the Lord. Take your worries to God. He hears your prayers. Jesus understands your needs.  Have faith and seek God. He will bring you through and will supply your needs. Hope in the Lord. Trust in the Lord. Be in a Bible teaching church Sunday.

Blessings,
Laura

  5. Excellent scripture filled post. Did you write that just for me :-) . Thank you so much for sharing this at Good Morning Mondays, sometimes things can be really tough and it has been a great reminder to trust in the Lord and leave our worries in His hands because He knows what we need. Blessings to you Laura as you spread His word to many.

  7. Thank you Laura :). My husband hurt his back badly a year ago (Feb. '14) shoveling out our car. Suffered 3 herniated discs and was home 9 weeks. Since he didn't get hurt on the job, so to speak, I had to trust God as being thankful we had 2 savings accounts....but thankful even as they were almost completely drained!!! Housing, bills, food...you get the idea. Now we are in our 50's and although, and thankful he did not require surgery and returned to work, we live in Queens NY where our night temps dipped below zero. He works OUTSIDE sometimes past midnight. So his back is suffering. He is our only income and I am realizing if my DH needs to retire soon...my God will supply. Even during last year's crisis, God asked me if I would trust Him even if He required EVERY SINGLE PENNY WE HAD...which He did...almost!! And here we are, one year later, by His grace...while not a heck of alot of savings, I remit one last check to a credit card...and we will be at 0 debt. He is our Provider...and loves us deeply. Thank you for this post.

  8. Dear Wise Woman...
Yours and my help does come from the Lord! But sometimes we must practice what we know to be true and it can just be hard! I loved Eileens comment!
I think we should all stop living as if we will not see hard times. One thing to learn to be frugal is a gift and that makes us good stewards!
Thinking of you and your post blessed me very much!
    Hugs, Roxy

  9. Hi Roxy,
I've gotten to the point where I need to pray give us this day our daily bread. ~smile~ I prayed that Saturday, because I didn't know what I'd feed us Sunday. Then I remembered that we would be spending the day with my parents' house and would eat there. They were so generous, they sent us home with several packages of meat and some other items. Praise God for His provision and thank you Dad!

I know that this is a temporary shortage; the restaurant will be open soon, and money will start coming in again. All the times in the past when we struggled prepared me to make it through this time. God is good to give us on the job training. ~smile~

Thank you so much for your encouragement Friend Roxy!

  12. Hi Terri,

I wrote it because I needed to build up my faith! I knew if I did, someone else did, too!

  14. Thank you, Laura! Thank you Roxie! You sisters in the Lord encourage me greatly. Yes...isn't it something? For years I 'cared' much about money, not realizing the true Provision...all in well meaning. You know...coupons, careful budgeting. Those are important! But my focus shifted off our heavenly Provider unknowingly and very slowly over the years. But although we are not in any enviable situation for anyone...I am free to know the peace that surpasseth all understanding. And like a child, I am truly anticipating how our Father is going to care for us as one day we will transition from full income to retirement. I have always been home...no place like it, yes? And we have never owned. But there is a sweeping peace I am experiencing and dare I even say? Laughter from joy in knowing my God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory!! Phil. 4:19

  15. I agree - pray, yes, but scrimp and save up an emergency fund, too. I figure God gave us a brain to determine what is a need, and what is merely a want, and he expects us to be sensible, too. Part of good stewardship and all that.

  19. Hi Laura, I read your reply to Roxy's comment and I understand where you are coming from. God blesses us in so many ways and he always provides the light at the end of the tunnel. He is that light and for you he provides a restaurant and for us our own meat and vegetables. I pray that you will be sustained during this time of physical shortage and I thank you for sharing from your spiritual wisdom. Blessings to you and your family.
