Outside my window... Snow! Finally!

I am thinking...
I am so thrilled to have the snow. My younger son says it's all my fault because of my prayers. ~grin~ No comment.

I am thankful...
We have a home with both propane radiators and wood heat... just in case the power goes out.

In the kitchen...
Chicken soup from leftover rotisserie chicken and a few odd veggies I had in the fridge
Oatmeal Coconut Crispies cookies
Beans for chili

I am wearing...
Comfy clothes including my favorite sweatshirt with hearts sewn all over it

I am creating...
A mess in the kitchen! I'm cleaning up, too. ~smile~

I am going...
no place tonight. Every activity was cancelled.

I am wondering...
how we get so many clothes and towels dirty. ~grin~

I am reading...
Worry Less So You Can Live More. I just opened it today.

I am hoping...
that the snow will last a few days.

I am looking forward to...
the ladies' conference at our church next month.

I am learning...
um, uh, hmmm... nothing today. I hope my kids are learning though!

Around the house...
It's a bit of a mess. The girls' things are in the hallway and scattered, because my Lowell is painting their room this week. He's run out of paint. The first coat looks like white with a blue tint to me, but it's supposed to be white with a pink tint. I don't know much about paint but....

I am pondering...
How to get everything done.

A favorite quote for today...

"It may be put down as a positive rule, whether among the rich or the poor, whether in a palace or in a cottage, that the wife who would be happy, and make her home happy and permanently beautiful, must work with her hands at the housewifely tasks which the days in turn bring to her."
Homemaking by Rev. J.R. Miller, D.D.

One of my favorite things...
Mozart's music

A few plans for the rest of the week...
Getting school back on track after a week in St. Louis visiting friends

A peek into my day...
Have a great week!
Laura
Happy with snow!

That is such a true homemaking quote! We do have to work at it to keep a happy pretty home.

  7. It's good see someone else likes to read J.R. Miller--I have his Homemaking book. Good stuff! I looked at your homeschooling reasons--we thought the same! I was a former elementary teacher, but knew homeschooling would be the best education to offer our own children. We had our doubts at times, but we made it all the way through! May God continue to bless the training of your children.

  10. You have such a cheerful blog, both in design and in content. I like the quote you shared from Rev. J.R. Miller. Like you, I love being a homemaker and am blessed to still be able to do it full-time even though my children are grown and on their own.

Blessings to you in the snow!

  11. Snow is pretty and I don't mind it if I can just stay home.....but here it tends to shut everything down as we aren't equipped to keep the roads clear...
I hope you don't mind, I want to follow your blog.... I liked the quote and copied in into a list I'm making of favorites.

  12. I hope your snow stays around for a few days so you can enjoy it. We have no snow in our part of our province and haven't had much this year at all. Kinda missing it as winter is my favorite season.

  19. It would be nice to see a bit of snow. We live on the coast of Spain and it never snows here but my MIL living an hour away is practically housebound with over a metre of snow.

  20. we finally got snow also, although it looks pretty, I just don't like it too afraid of falling and don't care for this cold either

  21. I understand Connie. My husband fell on the ice yesterday.

  22. That amazes me Sheryl. My father lives about 2 1/2 hours away from me and sees far more snow than I do during a winter.
    Blessings to you!

  23. I've never heard of that book. We had a touch of snow too this week. It seemed like a lot for us Southerners, but I'm sure those in the North East would laugh at what we call "snow."

  24. I'm sure you're right about the snow Jenny. Thanks for talking back.
