Pay Day

I received this text that touched my heart from my son. I'm recording it here, because I don't want to ever lose it.

"Hey, I want to tell you I love you. I just went shopping for house stuff, and I found my thought process for selecting kitchen items was, 'Did momma have one of these in her kitchen?' LOL If you didn't, then I knew it was unnecessary, because you worked absolute magic making something out of nothing for us because you loved us. You did a wonderful job of raising all of us. You made me who I am and I love you for that. I am proud to be your son."

Best pay day ever.

My Spicy Can Opener Soup was published in Gooseberry Patch Hometown Christmas!

Just had to share this with you again.   My recipe was published in Gooseberry Patch Hometown Christmas! I have to admit, I was truly surprised when I received a letter from Gooseberry Patch requesting permission to use my recipe in their newest Christmas cookbook.  I've sent in some more complicated recipes, but this one is easy peasy! It's truly a recipe that I threw together using items from my nearly bare kitchen cupboards last winter. I called it Spicy Can Opener Soup.  They changed the name, but the ingredients remain the same.   I was thrilled to receive my very own copy of the book .  Of course, I had to make it up and take some photos to share with you dear ladies. Just Who is Laura of Harvest Lane Cottage?

I'm a big city girl gone small town girl gone country and finally gone back to small town. I live in southern Missouri between Oz and the Ozarks.  I have four children. My daughters live at home. My twenty-four year old daughter is finishing her master's degree through online university, and my 20 year old daughter goes to Christian college. My sons live on their own nearby. The 22 year old son and my 31 year old sons live nearby. I homeschooled all of my children from the beginning through high school. My eldest son went to high school for a year and a half. I met my Jesus when I was fifteen, and my life has never been the same. I married my high school sweetheart almost thirty-six years ago. We started going steady my senior year of high school.
