Weekend Reading ~ August 15

Hello everyone!

I do hope you're having a lovely weekend. I did some laundry and housework this morning. Then I worked in the kitchen with my husband for awhile early this afternoon. He had brought in another zuchinnizilla, several cucumbers, some jalapeno and banana peppers, and a few tomatoes. We first used the last of the bread and butter pickle brine and made three pints of pickles. Then we made two 2 quart jars of refrigerator dill pickles. This is my first year to make pickles. I had plans for working the jalapenos and zucchini, but we ran out of steam. I decided to clean up the mess, finish the laundry, and have the girls help me straighten and vacuum the house. Now that the kitchen's clean, I hesitate to make another mess!

I've found some nice things for you to read this weekend. If you've not read anything from Grandma Donna yet, she has some excellent advice for the times we live in. So, here's a weekend reading list for you.

  1. Hi friend :) I must say first off you look amazing I love your hair colour !! so pretty. I remember that busy canning time in the kitchen last summer. It's pretty hard going in the heat !! We had a bad season for zucchini, which was sad as it's one of my favourite vegetables (low carb) and so versatile. It's a true blessing to have a bumper harvest. Blessings to you ~ Linda

    1. True Rhonda. Gdonna truly inspires me to do what I can with what I've got where I am. I never thought I'd can again after the cancer, but I'm doing a bit.

I love your hair! It's not gray and a brillo pad, like mine! HAHA I cling to the Bible verses about gray, if only I had the wisdom to go with it. ;)

I always enjoy your posts and am so thankful that you are a cancer survivor and still here to brighten the internet!

    Have a wonderful week!

    1. Mine can't be very gray since it all fell out! Ha ha! Maybe a purple or blue rinse? Tee hee! Remember the gray ladies when we were growing up? Purple, blue, pink... you never knew what color their hair (or their poodles) would be!
Just kidding about the rinse... really...you're not thinking about it are you? You are? Yikes! Don't scare me. Oh how I miss you my dear friend! I go to the local coffee shop with Beth each week. I wish you could join us.Hugs to you!Laura

My Grandma used to dye her scalp, she didn't have much hair. ;) My other Grandma was all white, but went in to keep it looking silver instead of yellow.

Mine is kinda half brown/half gray. I dyed it for 2 years, but got tired of it.

I miss you too, I would love to have coffee with you guys again! God bless you, dear Laura!

    3. Hi Deb, I remember dying my hair for awhile. I was concerned about growing it out when I finally decided to go gray. Fortunately (haha) I didn't have to figure it out. Chemo did that for me. ~smile~

    1. Hello Roxy,
Thank you. I got four cups of shredded zucchini from that one monster! I love to listen to audio books while I work or knit.
Someday, if I ever get to Colorado, I want to hug you in person. But for now, I'm sending you a virtual hug.
