February 1st ~ Day One of the Letter Writing Challenge

Welcome to Februaryeveryone! I've always thought of February as the half-way point of winter. When I was a child in Topeka, Kansas, the winters were long and cold with lots of snow. Now that I've lived another forty years and moved to southern Missouri, it's cold, but not snowy very often. In fact, for the last few years, if it snows, I'm surprised. My husband doesn't like snow, but I do. He nearly always gets his way. ~smile~

I just wrote my first letter for the incowrimo February letter writing challenge. I intend to write a letter or card to someone every day for the entire month of February. This morning, I wrote to my husband's grandmother. My husband and two of my adult childen put in letters, too. It should be a nice surprise for her.

I invite you to join me in spreading some joy in February with cards, letters, and Valentines. ♥ I'm sure there's someone who would love to receive written  correspondence from you. If you do, I'd love you to comment below and tell me who your first letter will go to. ~smile~ Let's spread some joy this winter!

Blessings from Harvest Lane Cottage,
Laura

  1. Hello Laura,
the first letter today went to my penfriend Linda. From tomorrow I think I will browse through my address book from A - Z and additionally write to a few people from the InCoWriMo web page.
Thank you for introducing this challenge!

  2. January is gone and we are closer to spring! I've been busy with my mom who is 91 but we found a lady to come in and sit with her 3 days a week so I am going to have some time. I write a card each week so I am going to try and send a few extra this month, Thank you Laura for the great idea! PS: I was thrifty this week! jackie

    1. That's wonderful news Jackie. I'll bet your mama would enjoy a card in the mail, too. I sent a book in the mail last month to a homebound friend. I could have dropped it at her house quicker, but I wanted her to have the joy of happy mail. Be blessed friend,Laura

    1. Oh Penny, there's no pressure. Just think about who might need a note to cheer them up. I started with my elderly relatives. That kept me busy for nearly a week of letters! There's no need to write every day, it's a goal, a challenge. I need some goals and challenges in my life right now.Hugs to you!Laura
P.S. May God bless and heal your little sick goat and keep the others healthy in Jesus' name.

    2. Thank you Penny. I told the other Penny who commented that I started with elderly relatives. They not only enjoy a letter or card, they remember when it was common!Blessings,Laura

  6. Laura my Valentine cards are made out. Here in New York we have about 14 inches of snow. Today we shoveled out while snow showers were coming out. I do not like snow. The cold temperatures don't bother me. I prefer it to HOT temperatures.

    1. Fourteen inches!? Wow! I like a little snow, but not that much. I agree about hot temperatures. You're ahead of the curve for Valentines. Be blessed!

  7. Laura, you look so pretty! That is such a good picture. I loved seeing your first handwritten letter...no sticky labels. :) I wanted to join in but afraid I wouldn't be able to keep it up all month with my sick little goat and other animals too. Maybe you will do it again soon and I will sign up.

  8. Hi Laura, I acquired a vintage typewriter for my birthday at the end of 2020, so I have been typing letters here and there. I believe my first letter sent in Feb. was to my sister via typewriter, but I also wrote a letter to you and a letter to my mother-in-law. I shall do a few more before the month is up!
