Cabrini Coming March 8th

Image
I am looking forward to seeing Cabrini. The trailer is compelling and leaves me wanting to know more of Miss Cabrini's life and contributions in spite of her limitations. She is brave and strong in a way that only God can make her.      a Rafflecopter giveaway About CABRINI From Alejandro Monteverde, award-winning director of 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘰𝘮, comes the powerful epic of Francesca Cabrini, an Italian immigrant who arrives in New York City in 1889 and is greeted by disease, crime, and impoverished children. Cabrini sets off on a daring mission to convince the hostile mayor to secure housing and healthcare for society's most vulnerable. With broken English and poor health, Cabrini uses her entrepreneurial mind to build an empire of hope unlike anything the world had ever seen. Cabrini will be releasing in theaters on International Women's Day, March 8th. ***Disclaimer: This film is rated PG-13 and includes some (tastefully-portrayed) mature theme...

Winter Where and What?

Image
Just WHERE and WHAT have I been doing? I've been home almost all month, crocheting and knitting! I've been crocheting dishcloths. After a few weeks of my husband and I fighting colds and school cancellations because of extreme cold and weather conditions, I started back subbing last week.  I've been knitting socks and hats.  More on all that to come!  Have a lovely week! Just Had to Share This Video!

Hey y'all! One of my daughters is a social worker. In her studies, she learned a lot about ADHD. She unofficially diagnosed me as having it. It makes sense since so many of the symptoms fit with my pinball brain. ~smile~ When I saw this video by the Holderness Family, I just had to share it! Enjoy, then let me know if you see yourself in it anywhere.  If you can't see the video, click here .

Get Free From the Boredom... Mother Culture by Karen Andreola

Image
This was an excellent book on home education and mother culture. I wish I'd had the confidence to implement Charlotte Mason's principles in greater depth as my children grew. Nevertheless, Karen Andreola greatly influenced me with her book, A Charlotte Mason Education . This book, Mother Culture , picks up where that one left off and gives even greater details about how to keep the joy of learning and celebrating life as you home educate your children. Mother this is the book you're looking for to release you and your children from the drudgery and boredom of workbooks and dry textbooks. 5 stars This book was a gift from Mrs. Andreola, however, she did not expect me to write even a short review. I liked this book so much, I purchased a copy for another homeschool mom.  Blessings, Laura I am an Amazon affiliate. Over the Moon

Heritage Recipe: Evie Funke's Potatoes au Gratin With Ham

Image
Evie Funke and her husband were elders in the first church I attended. It was the church that I was saved into way back in 1981. It was a little country church filled with salt-of-the-earth Christians. I have fond memories of those days, and my ideas of how church folk ought to relate to one another still stems from that time many many years ago. During a difficult time of my college life, I lived with Evie and her husband for a few months. This was one of my favorite dishes she made. Potatoes au Gratin Ingredients: thinly sliced white potatoes to fill 9 x 13 pan ham chunks as desired medium white sauce:  2 T butter 4 c milk 1/2 c flour 1/2 lb Velveeta cubed 1/2 c margarine 2 t salt Spray 13 X 9 pan with pan spray.  Fill pan with potatoes (and ham if desired). Make white sauce with cheese. Melt butter of medium-low heat. Whisk in flour and salt. Cook over medium heat until smooth and bubbly. Stir constantly. Remove from heat, stir milk in gradually....
