This week is a prep week since I'm starting on Tuesday. I'm planning to give the sewing room a good cleaning, and then organize my supplies and projects. It will be a bit of a job. I use the enclosed back porch for my sewing and office area. It gets messy over the winter with things tracked in. Regardless of how much I get done, sewing will start Monday.
I've had several project ideas. One thing I will definitely sew is project bags for knitting, crochet, and needlework. I'm going to try some different styles and see what resonates.
Do you have any sewing suggestions or tips for me?
Do you sew or have an etsy shop?
I'm looking for ideas and advice. My shop has been closed since before I found I had cancer. I sewed lots of masks during the plague and gave them away. I burned myself out. So, this is really a new start. That's appropriate. Sixty is a whole new decade. I've got lots of things I want to try.
Thank you for taking this trip through life with me. Many of you have been with me since my homeschooling days, and since my cancer days. I'm seven years out from my cancer diagnosis. It's hard to believe that much time has passed. I remember not knowing if I'd see another fall, another Christmas. God has been good to me. I am very thankful to keep living this life.
Be blessed,
Laura
Please write to me. I'd really like to know what your thoughts are about all of this. If there's something you'd like to see me sew, let me know!
Enjoy the pleasure of sewing. I make my own dresses but that's about it. I'm not a talented seamstress. I crochet and knit and that's about it.

Congratulations on your new (or renewed) adventure! Good for you. Sounds like you have some busy summer months ahead of you! Hooray for summer:)
ReplyDeleteI can feel your enthusiasm for sewing. Good for you. It’s exciting when you can finally do what you want without other things vying for your attention. I look forward seeing what all you sew and your Etsy shop.
ReplyDeleteI am excited for you! I hope your Etsy shop does very well. Sewing is such a wonderful thing to do!
ReplyDeleteHello Laura,
ReplyDeletethat's so great that your on holiday now and that you are getting back into sewing - me too :) I am wanting to try some little quilting projects - not an actual quilt, just patterns etc. I've spent a couple of weeks washing my fabric stash and sorting out some for the thrift store. So I suggest, try some patchwork :)
Many blessings to you ~ Linda
Sigh! I typed all these fun suggestions and then my finger hit one of the categories on my right and everything disappeared. Lets try this again lol.
ReplyDeleteYou could make some skirts, aprons( I love to make aprons). Coasters are good sewing projects as well as curtains. Do you like dresses? You could try sewing a dress perhaps or a shirt for your husband. That's all I can think of off hand. Have fun with whatever you decide to make.
I would think about items like holiday table runners (reversible), place mats and matching napkins, small items like glasses cases…holiday items, especially Halloween, now a big spending day.
ReplyDeleteI always wished I could sew like my grandmother. I just never put enough into it to learn I guess.
