Do you love a homemade Christmas? I do! Everything just seems like it means a bit more when you've put your time, effort, and care into it. Homemade, handmade, heartmade, thrifty, money saving gifts can be a blessing to the giver and the receiver. It doesn't happen overnight though. Okay, I admit it. I've been the crazy mom sewing on Christmas Eve and trying to finish wrapping. I don't want to do that anymore!

An Autumn Dream
Isn't this just dreamy? I can just imagine the aroma of woodsmoke drifting on the air as my husband steps onto the front porch after a long day at the work...replaced, upon entering, by beef stew simmering on the stove and the house lit with fragrant cinnamon spice candles.
After dinner, he'd hear the familiar scritch scratch of my whisk on the bottom of our saucepan as I prepare homemade cocoa to enjoy with big fluffy marshmallows. He'd settle into a comfortable chair by the fire and open his favorite read aloud—Little House in the Big Woods. Ah-- a girl can dream!
Some of those things can come true right where we are in our humble little cottage. Just a little work here and there and I can make this a comfortable and welcoming place for my husband and me. It's Autumn and time for some cleaning and feathering my nest.
God bless you all!

Homespun Devotions Volume Three
Amazon affiliate link
"Their calm demeanor, unshakeable faith, resolute determination to follow God to the end of their days regardless of personal cost, and utter selflessness were evidence of their close walk with Him and touched everything they did."
Cheryl has a way of describing an everyday situation and finding the God breeze in it. She's thoughtful. She listens to Holy Spirit, and he reveals things to her from the Bible that apply to whatever situation she's in. He's good like that. Seek Him. Ask Him. He'll do it for you, too. Back to Cheryl, in all, good, bad, hard, easy, hopeful, or heartbreaking, she gives God the glory.
Cheryl's love for Jesus flows through the pages of this book. It's one for slow reading and contemplation. I believe Holy Spirit will speak to you directly through these pages. He's spoken to me.
Here are a couple of my favorite quotes from the book.
"One morning, as I prayed about a puzzling situation, I realized it was way bigger than me or anything I could muster or solve." page 23 (It just touched my heart again as I typed it.)
"I heard him whisper, 'Leave this battle in my hands. It is my battle, not yours. It is big but not bigger than me. Give me time to work. Let me do this my way. I will take care of you and do what is best." pages 25-26 (This one will make it into my quote book.)
I love the heartfelt devotional nature of every story. They truly make me think. Here are some of the recipes that I want to try:
- Homemade biscuits
- Hot dog chili sauce
- Parmesan chicken
- Mexican Dip
- Pork roast 7 ways
- Must Go Soup
From the author:
Christian living is like a quilt—multi-colored scraps of wisdom gleaned and assembled one stitch at a time. We learn as we go, as the common thread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is woven throughout the everyday moments, events, and situations we encounter. Only He can tie the pieces together and create something of beauty that will serve to warm the hearts of others and surround them with His grace.
"Homespun Devotions: Volume One" began a series of books that record the piecing together of many of the stories of my life and the rich spiritual truths God has imparted along the way. Homespun Devotions: Volume Two continued that process; this is Volume Three. As you read these homespun narratives of family, love, marriage, motherhood, friendship, and the music that is such a part of my heritage, you will discover glimpses into moments of the soul-searching and intense struggles I have experienced while journeying to a place of complete surrender to the One who bled and died for me.
Homespun Devotions: Volume Three is unique, in that it also includes a recipe after each of the 50 devotionals! Some of the recipes are mine, others are ones I have accumulated. But each recipe is special to my family and me.
I point you to no denomination, religious group, or sect—only to the foot of the cross of Jesus Christ, where redemption, restoration, healing, and peace still freely and lavishly flow. He loves you with a never-ending, unconditional love—I pray you embrace this truth afresh and with a deeper persuasion as you read.
