Seven Minutes— starting NOW!
Last time I did this I had fun. So I'm doing it again. Here we go!
I found this photo of my sewing machine that I took last fall. I was doing a lot of sewing then. I had sewn things to give for Christmas and other gifts. The idea was to find a project bag type that I truly enjoy making. Then, if I truly did enjoy sewing them, I would sew up a big batch and restock my Etsy shop. I've had it closed or on vacation for quite a bit now.
I've thought of reopening many times through the last few years. I've thought of selling sewn items, vintage items, and maybe even a few knitted items. I just never seemed to get around to it.
To me, the ideal time to reopen would be in September so that I could take advantage of holiday sales. That would mean a lot of making between now and then. I haven't been doing much making these days.
Long hours at the office have kept me from doing much more than putting a few stitches in the reader's shawl that I began a bit more than a month ago. I'm using a solid tan held double with one of my numerous scraps. It's all sock yarn. Some is left from other projects, some is from a gift of 5-10 gram balls that I received as a gift last Christmas. It's been relaxing to work on since it's all garter stitch... until I realize that I've made a mistake several rows back!
Well— my alarm just went off. Just a moment to check my spelling and...

'Til next time,

It is wonderful you are doing these posts! It's always good to hear from you! I know you are extra busy these days. Thank you for these quick posts! God bless you!
ReplyDeleteHello Mrs. White,
DeleteI do miss blogging more. I miss a lot of things, actually. But, I have my eye on the prize of helping my husband to pay down our debts so that he can retire one day. Since we don't have savings, this is the only way we know to do it. Even so, our elder years will be like all of our other years, "Living on a prayer". But what better thing to live on. God has taken care of us in miraculous ways in the past. He will do the same for us as needed in our future. Sending you a warm hug for sticking with me through this as well as many other times in my life. Your writing inspires me and draws me closer to God. "If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me." You, dear lady, are an excellent lifter!
Warmly,
Mrs. Lane
How fun! I think it would be a great thing to open an Etsy shop but I don't like feeling like have "have" to make things to sell or on a schedule. With no pressure I can make quite a bit more! Crazy, I know. I just took five more prayer shawls to my sister this morning to deliver to the hospital when she goes to rock babies tomorrow. (She rocks babies in the NICU three times a week as a volunteer.) She's been doing this for almost 15 years now and loves it. The nurses call her the baby whisperer. She cam get a baby to fall asleep in minutes that has cried for hours. :-)
ReplyDeleteHubby took 12 baby blankets to the Open Door Mission when he went to volunteer last week.
This all keeps me pretty busy since I'm home most of the time because of my back. I can ride in a car, but walking a lot? Not so much.
I hope your Sunday has been wonderful.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
What wonderful ministries you and your sister have! Bravo!
DeleteEven if you never sell again on Etsy, I hope you will find time to enjoy your sewing hobby - it is good for the soul!
ReplyDeleteYou're so right, Carrie. I've been knitting; but, I long to sew, also. Pun intended. ~smile~
