Oh for that kind of faith…
a faith that is willing to give it all away for Jesus’ sake knowing that He will provide all of our needs according to His riches in glory,
a faith that trusts Him explicitly without fretting or worrying,
a faith that does not doubt His love or His provision or His timing,
a faith that is strong even when we don’t see answers to our prayers.
Faith is hoping and believing and trusting all wrapped up together. It is a gift from God. The Word says that "…faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17 This tells me that I need to not only read scripture, but read it aloud and listen to it being read aloud. I want to hear from God from His Word.
I want that Faith that is a gift from God.

ReplyDeleteIt occurred to me this summer my husband and I always give money to our friends who are missionaries and then ask for money from friends and family when it comes to our own mission work. And maybe some people would question why we would give money away when we need it more. But God always provides. And He "is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us" (Ephesians 3:20). Be encouraged!

ReplyDeleteGeorge Mueller has always stood out to me as a great example of living out faith. I remember in reading a book about him about a time he called a little girl with him so she could see what God would do. They were waiting on God to provide food for the orphanage. They were all sitting down to eat with no food on the table just waiting on God to show up and provide. And of course, he did. That is faith! And that's the kind I want too!

That is amazing faith! Imagine not worrying about an IRA, 401K, social security... Could we not? Wow, that is something to chew on. To really be like those lilies in the field... Thanks for sharing this on the Art of Home-Making Mondays!
